Dudley's Thoughts

As Dudley Dursley sat on the couch with a glass hitting him he began to think.

He thought for the first time about the fact that something was happening in his cousin's life. Something big.

He thought about how Harry had saved his life. The weird dementy-thingys had been so scary. He had seen how awful he himself had become.

So when Dumbledore told the Dursleys that he had been damaged he was less surprised than his parents.

Slowly he came to realize that he was wrong. Harry wasn't so strange and awful. His parents opinions didn't have be his own. He could like Harry even if his mum and dad didn't.

He paused for a moment surprised by this revelation. He had never before thought that maybe his parents were truly wrong.

Even after realizing what they had done to him because of his encounter with the dementors he hadn't really blamed them. He had assumed that it was his fault. Now he thought that maybe, just maybe he had been mislead.

Dudley's thoughts returned to the attack the summer before. He remembered the terrible cold, but most of all he remembered the visions. How he had seen so much. It had truly made him think I a way that nothing else could.

Dudley thought about how grateful he was to Harry. He wished that there was some way that he could repay the other boy. Dudley resolved to be nicer to Harry the next summer. As the wizard (Dunbledear maybe?) finished talking Dudley realized that strange though it was he was grateful to Harry Potter. His cousin, the boy who he had tormented many times. Grateful. The world was full of surprises.

Author's note: This is part of a series called Reflections. They are about characters reflecting on a bunch of different things. There are six more, one about Luna, called Luna's Wishes, one about Snape entitled Snape's Dreams, one about Lily called Lily's Fears, one about Remus called Remus' Differences, one about James called James' Worries, and one about George called George's Not-Tears. I am asking for suggestions of characters whose reflections you want to see. I will dedicate the story to you if you suggest a character, as well as sending you a message when I put the story up if you sign your review. Please be nice and give me suggestions. I promise to respond to every review.
