I recently watched the 100th episode of Bones again. This poem sorta just happened in History class while studying for finals.
A flower wilts by an open gate
how can she love when it's a little too late?
The hope is gone, lost somewhere behind
no one is left to be nice or be kind
All were pushed away by a sad little girl
with no hand to hold or cute little curls
she grew up to fast, in the blink of an eye
"I love you" they said but she saw through the lie
To protect herself and to keep herself strong
any show of emotion never lasted long
Her eyes were cold and void of life
her smile was gone, her words sharp as a knife
No one came close, not one understood
she wanted to change but didn't think that she could
Her lonely existence soon became bright
when she softened her heart and let in the light
The smile of one who broke down her walls
who put life in her eyes and answered her calls
He was in love with her and all that she was
and she with him and everything he does
"I'm a gambler" he said, putting his heart on the line
he kissed her lips, finally speaking his mind
she stopped him and pushed himself away
he was hoping they would be together that day
"I can't change" she said with tears streaming down
"I'm a scientist" she continued, "I don't know how"
he looked at her, broken, saying he had to move on
that's just what he did and her one chance was gone
She loves him still despite it all
she missed her shot and he let her fall
now the flower dies and the gate is closed
her walls are back up, the sad life that she chose
