To be different is the deepest of sins.

Tears flooded jacks eyes. Some, some pig face had read his journal. Now he knew, knew every thing about him and the secrets closest to his heart. Namely, his crush on the boy who sat in the seat in front of him in French class, ray, Ren or what ever his name was. Ralph, the name floated from the back of his consciousness. He was handsome, possibly even beautiful, although until recently, he denied it to him self.

Although the denial had fled the self-loathing had done no such thing. Despite his resignation to his feelings the sense of taboo still tugged on his heart as he stared at the back of Ralph's head. So know as he cried in the school loos while other children chattered about the upcoming trip, he wished that the plane would just crash and maybe even kill them, so long as he no longer lived in a place where he might be judged so fiercely.

Jack wiped his eyes and left the stall. He found the fat boy outside the school cafeteria. Checking to see that no one was in the vicinity he pushed him against the wall and whispered in a low, dangerous voice into his ear.

"Tell any one what you read and your pathetic life expectancy will become inconsequent." He waited while the rotund boy processed this new information.

"I'm telling my auntie..." he began

"You won't live long enough to get home" jack breathed.

He released the portly boy and stalked off. His fear and pain gave jack a rush. It made him feel alive. Almost as though he had a purpose, a reason to justify his existence. It was exhilarating. Jack laughed as he walked to the library and for a minute pretended that he was normal.
