Teddy knew it would have been better to have cooked the meal himself, but they were still waiting for the fire proof curtains to come in so he opted against it.
"Teddy, what's the name of the moth-y things that eat books?" Asked Billy as he trounced in through the door.
"Silverfish?"
"Yeh. Those. I turned Tommy into one today."
"Uh-huh." Teddy looked up from the candle he was lighting, "for how long?"
"Given how angry I was, I'd say we could sub-let his flat for two to six weeks." Teddy marched over and grabbed his boyfriend by the waist, pulling him in close.
"Now, Billy what have I said about playing nicely with the other children?"
"That it's not possible?" The kissed and broke apart.
"True enough."
Billy's eyes glanced at the table, with the steaming hot Chinese food laid out extravagantly. "Aww, you spared the curtains."
He pulled out a chair with a wave of his fingers and a spark of blue. Teddy sat down opposite. Now, the hard bit. He took a deep breath and the speech he'd been going over all day flashed before his eyes.
"Billy, how long have we known each other?" His boyfriend snorted and took a sip of wine- it was a little joke between them, as neither could forget the day the Y.A. first assembled. Dispense with the pleasantries and get on with it. "Y'know, Billy, I used to think I was unlucky- I never knew my dad, I was different to everyone at school and I didn't know why." He leant forward and took Billy's hand. "And then I met you- and I was the luckiest guy in the world. And I never want that to change." And suddenly he was on one knee and the ring had materialised from his pocket. Billy dropped his fork. "Will you marry me?"
Billy just stared and suddenly Teddy felt extremely ridiculous. The clock counted out a minute and a half. "Y'know, you kinda need to say something."
Billy just started shaking his head and muttering "Oh, Teddy."
"What?" He swallowed hard, "You mean, you don't want to-" Then he noticed that Billy was also holding a ringbox.
Billy smiled. "I was gonna wait until dessert." He put his hand under his boyfriend's chin and raised his face to look him in the eye. "And my speech wasn't gonna be half as cheesy as that."
