Chapter 1: All Boys Policy

Chapter Summary: She had someone she liked and she would do everything to be with him. Every possible thing she would do even if she disguised as a guy—what?

"Date me, cutie."

She looked down as she couldn't stare in front of her. She bumped into a boy and she broke his glasses—more on she stepped on it when it fell. The boy got furious when he saw his glasses was broken. She apologized already but the boy didn't accept it. Now that he stared at her closely, he found her pretty that he ended up cornering her to that wall.

"I-I can't…"

"You should date me for the payment of my glasses." He said tapping his glasses to her cheek making her flinch.

"Hey dude, you are scaring the girl, ask politely."

"Shut up will you."

She could hear his friends talking in front of her. She took a peek to the guys as well as the one who asked her for a date. She twitched on what she saw. The guy was not that good looking but he didn't pass her taste. There was no way she would date someone like him. When they were busy talking, she tried to sneak out from them but no to avail.

The guy in front of her grabbed her wrist as she tried to escape.

"And where do you think you are going?" the guy accused.

"Let go!" she almost yelled, "I already said… I-I'm sorry."

"And I told you, it's not accepted," the guy said and then thought of something not-so-out-of-the-plan. He smirked as he leaned closer to her, "Well, if you don't like to date me, give me at least a sweet, long and passionate kiss from you."

She felt her hair all over her body stood up. Her eyes widened when she looked away from the guy. She wanted to get away but the guy's hands were trapping her from the wall. She tried to struggle as she could. As much as she wanted, she didn't wish to give her first kiss to a guy like him. Not in her entire life. She was about to scream when a ball was suddenly hit the guy's face really hard.

The guy collapsed on the ground but he was merely conscious, "W-who did that?"

She covered her mouth as quickly as she could. Her first kiss was saved by someone.

"She already apologized to you. Can't you just accept that?" the person who hit the guy talked.

"What did you say?" his friend retorted.

"You heard me loud and clear."

"Why you-" before he could finish his words he threw another ball to him only to be bounced back in his hand after it hit the guy's face.

"I would mind sparing on your faces rather than the wall." He smirked.

The guys gritted their teeth as they slowly walked backwards. They carried the guy who tried to kiss her and ran away.

The guy who saved her smirked and said, "Mada mada dane."

She stared at him for a while and flinched a little when he looked at her direction. Without wasting any time, she faced him properly and bowed really low, "U-umm… Thank you very much."

He stared at her for a while before turning around from her, "Be careful next time."

She flinched on her location and looked at his retreating back then she noticed something below her feet. It was a tennis ball that the boy used a while ago. She picked it up and tried to catch up with him, "W-wait… y-you forgot the tennis ball."

The boy raised his right hand and simply retorted, "Keep it."

"E-eh?" she stared at his retreating back. Her heart was beating fast after he saved and looked at her. Although he just stared at her for a couple of seconds but it brought a big impact to her. She felt her face turned red and she realized that she was blushing.

That was the first time she blushed when she saw a boy. She hugged the ball to her chest as she realized something, "He's… cool and amazing."

Her eyes were snapped opened. She was catching her breath as she realized she did. She slowly sat up from her bed and thought really hard. It was the same dream again. It happened three months ago when a boy saved her from a group of guys. She didn't know the boy's name but she knew which school he was studying.

She remembered the jersey the boy was wearing back then. A combination of white and blue and if she was not mistaken, he was a member of some tennis club in that school, "It's Seigaku." She smiled as she thought about the school.

Actually she didn't know anything about the boy aside the school but when she told Tomoka, her best friend, her hopes raised to the fullest. Tomoka who knew everything about cute and handsome guys didn't escape the boy's school's information.

And that added the fact that it was an all boys school.

She looked down as she thought what Tomoka had said to her. How can I see him again? She was running out of ideas. She never saw the boy once again but their first meeting brought a big impact for her. Her heart never acted so stupid in front of a guy. I needed to talk to Tomoka about this. I think I am going crazy if I don't see him once again. With that, she quickly jumped off of her bed and dressed herself up. Good thing that it was Sunday and there was no class today. She went off to her best friend's unit.

Later on:

Tomoka massaged her temple after she said her thoughts to her.

"Sure, you want to see this guy?"

She nodded, "Tomo-chan… I just wanted to say a proper thank you to him… b-besides I want him to return the favor of saving me."

"Hello!" Tomoka waved her hands to her, "We are talking about Seigaku, girl. That school is an all boys. We are not allowed to go there unless we have relatives to visit."

"B-but we can pretend that we are going there to visit a relative."

"And where are your evidences? We don't know what those boys inside are like." Tomoka protested, even though she could gather information from the school, her data was still limited. She couldn't get the boy's name either.

"I guess they are kind… take my savior as an example."

"On the contrary, he saved you because you were in trouble that time. Of course, anyone could do that in his place."

She blinked twice. Tomoka had a point. If that boy was not in that area, there was a probability that someone would do the same thing. But she still insisted because he was the boy who saved her that time, "but Tomoka-chan… I still want to see this boy who saved me."

Tomoka growled as she thought of something.

She put her hands together in front of her as she begged, "I-I'll do anything… e-even if I have to disguise as a boy and sneak inside."

Tomoka's eyes widened as she said that. She flicked her fingers in the air and shouted making her jump, "That's it!"

"W-what's it?" she blinked her eyes twice.

Tomoka held her shoulder and shook her, "You will disguise yourself as a boy and go there," her eyes flickered in delight as she thought something better, "or… transfer there completely."

Her eyes widened this time as she was trying to register what she said, "W-WWhat?!"

"Study there, Sakuno. Disguise yourself as a boy and study there."

Sakuno blushed this time, "N-no way… I-I can't do that."

"Hey! You suggested this yourself and you said that you'll do anything."

"I-I know but…"

"What are you thinking for? It's your chance to be with him. You are not just going to see him but you will study with him this time."

She was speechless at what Tomoka said. The idea was somewhat provoking her but she was worried on what might be the outcome, "I-I am not sure. You said it yourself; it could be dangerous for me."

"Oh come on, Sakuno. I know you can do it. I think it's not that bad. Don't you want to see him?" Tomoka asked her.

"O-of course I do."

"Then, do this… in the name of love." Tomoka said with puffy eyes gleaming at her.

She looked down as she sweat dropped. Of course she wanted to see him. Enrolling to all boys' school was a big risk. What would her grandmother think? Sumire was teaching abroad and would be coming home a year later. She would be dead if her grandmother would find out about this. But studying in Seigaku as a boy was a bit interesting for her; maybe studying there for a year wouldn't be so bad.

…If she wouldn't get caught if she dared to try.

"Well? This will be once in a lifetime," Tomoka said when she didn't answer, "Are you in or out?"

She looked at her best friend and sighed quickly as if gathering enough courage to reply to her words, "Okay, I'm in."

Later on:

Disguising as a boy was very risky and she couldn't imagine that she had to lose something precious to her.

Her hair.

Her long braided hair in pigtails.

"D-do I have to do this?" she almost cried as she asked her best friend.

"Sakuno," Tomoka said with irritation on her voice, "You can not go there with a long hair. Of course, we need to cut it."

She held her plaits and caressed them, "But I took care of them for years."

"Well, it's not the end of the world, duh?" Tomoka rolled her eyes, "It will grow in no time."

"B-but-" she tried for the last time.

"You have to make sacrifices. I thought you want to see your prince?"

"I-I do—what? Prince?" She blushed when she realized what her best friend said.

"Come on," she said jerking a pair of scissors in her hands, "Okay, you cut it."

She stared at the pair of scissors in front of her. She had to make sacrifices to see this person. He had to appreciate on what she was about to do. She sighed slowly as she unbraided her hair and let it down. It was awfully long as she stared at a life-size mirror and talked, "If he sees me as a girl… I think he will say that my hair is too long."

"That's the point, so cut it now."

"H-he'd better thank me for this," she said grabbing her hair to one side and was about to cut it with the pair of scissor when suddenly thought of something. She looked around and searched for something. When she found it, she dropped the scissor and grabbed a knife.

"S-sakuno." Tomoka was a bit shocked at her action.

She breathed irregularly as she kneeled down and looked in front of the mirror. She slowly placed the knife beneath her hair that leveled her neck while still trembling. She closed her eyes tightly as she muttered an apology and swiftly cut her hair in one move.

Tomoka was shocked for the second time. She watched her best friend cut her hair that way.

Sakuno's hair fell in front of her. She grabbed the pack and hugged it and stupidly looked at her, "T-tomoka-chan."

"Stupid girl… don't look at me like that," Tomoka sweat dropped, "let's fix your hair."

Her hair was now above her shoulder blades. Luckily she didn't cut her hair that short. Tomoka tied her hair using a black ribbon to make it a pontytail. She looked in the mirror once again.

"Hmmm," Tomoka said eyeing her in the mirror, "Not bad."

She couldn't believe herself. She looked like a boy with that get up. Tomoka brushed her bangs and removed her clip. Tomoka cut a few strands of her hair and placed them just in front of her ears. It was a perfect disguise for her.

"And now… for acting."

"A-acting?"

"Of course you need to act like a boy, talk like a boy and behave like a boy." Tomoka said to her, "You have to do that to convince that you are a boy."

"M-mou."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Tomoka pointed her index finger and commented, "Remove all the feminine gesture, act like a boy."

She sweat dropped, "O-okay… what should I do first?"

"Your voice, you need to change it."

"H-how?"

"Make it lower and big. Try to talk a little lower and big." Tomoka said.

Sakuno tried but she looked ridiculous making Tomoka laugh, "Tomo-chan!"

"Sorry, sorry," She said trying to refrain herself from laughing, "Come on, Sakuno try to remember how boys speak. Remember your savior's voice."

Sakuno tried to remember the boy's voice, "His voice was cold and non-emotional. It was more on teasing when he spoke that time."

"And you like this boy? How come?"

"Tomo-chan, he just saved my life." She said sarcastically… almost.

"Okay, okay. Now let's continue."

She sighed. This would be pretty tough for her. Then she remembered something, "W-wait… h-how am I going to enter Seigaku?"

Tomoka grinned hard, "Just leave it to me, girl. I've got everything under control. "

One week later:

She never expected that Tomoka's relative had passes to the entrance gate and a letter of permission to enroll in Seigaku. She was holding her passes and the letter as she entered the 'golden gate' of the academy. She was nervous as she made her way to the gate. She heaved a sigh of relief when the guard allowed her to enter.

"Go to the principal's office and talk to him." The guard said.

She nodded and bowed to the guard, "Thank you very much."

The guard sweat dropped as he noticed something from her but he shrugged it.

She entered the gate and began roaming around. The school was amazingly big and it began to worry her. Why?

It was awfully big and she was nervous now that the boys were staring at her. Her problem was attacking her right now.

…for she was navigationally-challenged.

Why does this school have to be big? She thought as she looked around the corridor. She was busy thinking on where to go when suddenly a hand tapped her shoulder. She flinched when she felt the touch but she looked behind her.

"What's the problem, kiddo? Are you lost?" The boy whom she estimated about a year or two years older than her asked.

She stared at him for a while. The guy looked nice as she thought but she still couldn't find the words to say.

"Hey, cat caught your tongue?" he waved his hands in front of her.

She blinked twice as she spoke a bit manly, "ah, gomen… I-I'm lost, you are right about that," she looked down as she said her next words; "Do you know which way to the principal's office?"

"The principal's office?" he thought and then he looked at her. She felt awkward when he did that. He must've wondering on her outfit. She was wearing a brown uniform which he probably thought that she was from a different school, "Are you by any chance want to enroll here?"

She nodded as confirmation earning a wide grin from him.

"Great!" he said as he placed his hand to her shoulder making her flinch, "I hope you'll pass the exam, you will be our kouhai!"

"T-thank you." she smiled as she sweat dropped.

"Okay, I'll take you to the principal's office." With that he pulled her to the principal's office.

At the Principal's Office:

The boy who helped her to get there went off already. She forgot to ask his name as he dashed out of the room. She should remember asking someone's name and made a mental note that she had to.

She was now standing in the front of the Principal of Seigaku. The principal was now reading her application for her entrance. Her heart was really beating fast. I hope I'll pass this or my life would be doomed.

"Ryuzaki Jerry is it?" the principal asked.

She stood firm and answered politely, "hai."

He looked at her for a while before looking back at the paper, "You said that your grandmother's teaching abroad, who's supporting you for your studies?"

"She is sensei, she brings my allowance monthly."

He nodded as confirmation, "Where do you stay?"

"I am currently living in an apartment where my grandmother left me."

After examining her profile, the principal looked at her and talked seriously, "Enrolling in this school means that you have to stay here."

"Hai."

"Once you signed the paper, you will have to transfer here and wait until the exam. Exams for transferee will be in a week for now. You have to pass it once or you will not enroll here."

"Hai."

"You have a week to prepare but for now, I'll assign you to your room," the principal said, "oh, and you have a roommate too so be friendly with him."

"Hai."

"Stop being formal, this is not really a strict school so feel free to do what you like."

"Hai…err… thank you very much, sire." She bowed slightly.

The principal sighed when she did that, "Good luck to your entrance exam, you may go now."

"Hai… thank you again." With that she left the room.

She was able to walk three steps when she released her breath freely. She didn't know that she was holding it for long inside her. She saw the guy from earlier and smiled at him.

"T-thank you very much senpai, about earlier." She bowed.

"Nah it's nothing. You can call me Momo-chan-senpai." He said to her.

She sweat dropped, "H-hai… Momo-chan-senpai."

"Good, well, what's your name by the way?" Momo asked her.

"J-jerry, Ryuzaki Jerry." She said… almost telling him her real name.

"Ryuzaki-chan, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

"Come, I'll show you to your room," He said becoming a little hyper, "I think you know that you have a roommate, right?"

She nodded as he looked at her.

"Well, that brat is not that friendly but he's nice," Momo said to her not missing to wink at her, "but he's good looking, don't fall in love with him okay."

"s-senpai, wh-what are you saying?" She blushed really forgetting that she was a girl but immediately remembered that she was a boy at that time, "I-I am a boy remember?"

Momo laughed at her reaction and looked at her, "Of course you are but if you blush like that, I am starting to think that you are a girl," he then stared at her blushing face, "well, are you?"

Her blush became deeper. Then she remembered what Tomoka told her.

Be offended if a boy teased her.

Which she did. She leaned closer to the boy and simply retorted, "Baka! Otoko da yo, what makes you think that I am?"

Momo laughed at her even more, "yeah, yeah, you are right. I am only kidding."

She pouted as she looked away.

"We're here." Momo suddenly announced. She looked at the names in front of the door and read them in her mind. Momo talked once again, "I hope that you will be good friends with him."

She was nervous when she learned that she was having a roommate. She needed to keep her secret carefully and having a roommate was more on like a risk to her. She needed to be careful to hide her secret.

Momo opened the door for her and peeked inside. The place was nice. It had two bedrooms, two study tables and one bathroom. She looked around and saw that one of the study tables was occupied by someone.

…Rather than her roommate-to-be.

H-his hair looked familiar. She thought as she stared at the boy who was sitting in front of his table. She was facing his back that was why she had a clear look on his hair.

…The dark-green hair.

Hearing Momo's voice, the boy looked at their direction making her eyes wide.

The boy was staring at her now.

…With his amber eyes.

"Ryuzaki-chan, I want you to meet your roommate," Momo said waving his hand to him and introduced the boy in front of her;

"Echizen Ryoma."

Done! How was this pilot chapter? I want to know you thoughts… did you like this? It was so hard to insert the preview same as my other new fic, I never planned to put the preview at the end part but it would be longer if I continue this... so...

Some notes:

~ It is perfectly aware that Ryoma and Sakuno don't know each other.

~ Sakuno's reason of entering the acedemy is because she wants to thank her saviour properly not because she discovers that Ryoma is a great tennis player. Quite different from the original but she will admire his skills in the future just like in the manga and anime tee hee hee.

~ Seigaku is only an all boys school and has dorms where students can only go outside once a month or with permission during school year.

~Schools already started for a month before Sakuno entered the academy that's why she was still allowed to take the exam for transfer.

~ Sakuno was living alone as Sumire teaches abroad. Tomoka is always there to accompany her.

~ Sakuno's stuttering problems will subside a little but blush will eventually present to her when is being teased.

~ Imagine Dan Taichi's hair look as Sakuno new hair style. If you know Gilbert Nightray of Pandora Hearts, I had her ponytail with the black ribbon as same as his. (See his pictures for details.)

~The reason I named this fic 'Cherry Valentines' is because... Her name/alias has something to do with Cherry and the Valentines is derived from a fruit called Trollinger which has the synonym of grape or I can say that it belongs to a family of grape-which reminds me of Ryoma

Reviews please! I want to know your thoughts… ^_^
