A/N: This is a sequel! I recommend you read the first story so you'll understand this a little better! :P But like... It's meh. Dx s/8813784/1/Beautiful-tragic
Well, that's the link. Um, I hope you enjoy this sequel, anyway. :) I don't know if it'll be any good. I hope it's okay for you all! Dx Bye! :)
My heart was thumping violently against my chest. My eyes were closed and I listened to the silence around me. The air was warm but my hands were cold. His hands tightened around mine as he led me to where ever he was taking me. He told me it was a surprise but I'm really not into surprises. I was eager to know where I was.
Finally, we stopped, my eyes still closed.
"Come on!" Jack said. "Open your eyes!" He sounded like a child who had gotten Christmas early. I guess I was use to his child like antics, though. Jack was always like this and he always would be, to be honest. Forever. And I don't mean 'forever' as in until we die, but I literally mean forever. Jack can't die nor can I. In some ways it was cruel and in others it was great.
I opened my eyes and gasped at the scene before me. I couldn't believe he had brought me here. At first I wasn't sure exactly where I was until I recognised slowly the city of Paris below me. Note: Jack can be smooth at times. Jack and I were on the highest level of the Eiffel Tower, looking down at the busy night life of Paris. Okay, I'm definitely glad I'm not a normal girl because then I wouldn't be able to have a great first date like this.
It's been one month since Jack, the other Guardians and I destroyed Evil. I still worry at night that his defeat had been to easy, but I really didn't like thinking about it. It usually just led to nightmares when I do eventually fall asleep. I was tired of having nightmares and remembering everything bad that has happened to us. I hated it. I just wanted a somewhat normal life with Jack without worrying all the time. I WAS GOING TO GO BLOODY INSANE EVENTUALLY! Sorry, lost my cool there.
"So...?" Jack asked. "What do you think? I would of preferred to take you to Antarctica but obviously you'd freeze there. Same with most places I really wanted to bring you. Why couldn't you be a winter spirit like me? Winter is fun!"
"Wha-? Shut up," I said playfully. "Autumn is fun too!" I punched him playfully on the shoulder and he smiled. "And, I love it, Mr Frost. It's just so beautiful." I kissed him on his cheek which made him smile even more.
"I have another surprise for you– close your eyes again," he told me. Feeling a bit weary I closed my eyes once again. I felt a gust of wind and knew he flew off somewhere. Another gust told me he had returned. I stayed froze to the spot, arching my eyebrows expectantly. What more was he going to surprise me with today. When–
Where am I? Oh, this looks nice! I'm hungry, I want food!
My eyes immediately shot open. There's only one creature I can interact with through my thoughts and that was a fox. I gasped when I saw Jack holding a fully white, fluffy fox in his arms. The fox was clearly only a young cub and looked quite comfortable in Jack's arms. Wait– was Jack giving me this fox? Oh, god.
"Please tell me you did not randomly take this fox!" I exclaimed, quickly taking the fox out of his arms. The fox nuzzled into me and a feeling of warmth spread throughout my entire body. Aw, it was just the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life! Wait– stop, Sophie! You are going to get attached to it! But it's eyes... Agh! I needed to get a grip! It was only a cub and could be lost from its mother! How tragic would that be? The mother returns to find her little baby is gone.
"I didn't," Jack replied. His eyes saddened. "Its mother and father were killed by a polar bear." The little fox in my arms began to whimper at the word polar bears. My heart felt like it tore into a million pieces.
"Hey, little guy," I said softly to it. "It's okay. I'll take care of you now."
That boy saved me, it told me. I miss my parents. It cried again.
"Thanks, Jack," I said. "I'm not sure how my parents will react when I bring him home, though." I chuckled at the thought.
"They let Cotton Tail inside your house," he said. "I'm sure they'll allow this little guy in too. I mean, they're both fluffy things. They're basically related." I shook my head at how wrong that whole sentence was. Sometimes I worry for Jack, I really do. "And even if they don't, I'm sure Katherine would take him. She loves animals just as much as you do."
Katherine was another Guardian. She wasn't as known as the big five were (North, Sandy, Tooth, Mund and Jack) but she was known none the less. Some people would consider her to be Mother Goose even though she was younger than I was. But that could be because she has an oversized goose as a pet. The goose is actually pretty wicked! It allows you to ride on its back sometimes. Katherine was the Guardian of storytelling.
I wasn't a guardian. I was just an autumn spirit, but I was quite all right with that. Being a guardian sounds like too much work and I think I'd rather just relax, especially now that I was done my duties as a spirit for this year. I had this insane power where I could kill all vegetation for winter. I arrived back only last week, but that meant that Jack would be leaving soon to bring snow to the world. That kind of sucked, but we still had Summer and Spring together. Unless, of course, Jack felt like being a nuisance and making it snow in March and April. He does that sometimes.
"It's like a little baby," I cooed as it began to close its eyes. "Oh my gosh!" I suddenly exclaimed. "Pippa is due baby Bennett in two months! I'm so excited. I still can't believe they are still allowing me to be godmother, to be honest. I thought because I was now a spirit they'd chose someone else. Not complaining, though! I'm way too happy!"
"Baby Bennett," Jack mused. "That's kind of catchy... Baby Bennett, baby Bennett..." He trailed off with a laugh.
"You are missing the point," I giggled.
I looked back out at the view, captivated by its beauty. Paris was beautiful at night. That's when I saw streams of gold begin to wind its way through the endless city. I smiled brightly. Only one person could make gold sand like that: Sandy, the Sandman. I watched as the sand began to change form into whatever people dreamed of: unicorns, mermaids, lollipops and butterflies. I use to watch this for as long as I could for years. It was my most favourite part about night time. I liked seeing peoples dreams. There was something mesmerising about it.
Jack took my free hand which wasn't holding the cub. I never got use to how cold his hands were, but I just learned to ignore it because after a while they didn't seem so cold.
Everytime something good happens, I always expect something bad to come out of it. It made me nervous.
Especially now because nightmares had wound their way into my dreams. Nightmares of dark halls that never seemed to end and a cold laugh echoing through them as I searched frantically for an escape. I just hope it doesn't become a reality.
Somehow, I knew that was too much to wish.
Luck never really saw eye to eye with me.
Have I ever mentioned that I SUCK with first chapters? NO? Well, I do. -_- Hope you guys enjoyed this, somehow. xD Please, please review for more. :D It would totally mean a lot to me. I'M TRYING! :'( :P Um, thanks! BYE! :)
