"Luucyyyy! I'm hungry!" two voices called in unison from behind Lucy. Natsu Dragneel and his exceed companion Happy had turned up, uninvited as usual, at her house wanting to spend time with her. She had been looking forward to a relaxing bubble bath before working on her novel for the rest of the evening, until she was rudely interrupted by her rose-haired so-called "best friend". She sighed before turning around on her chair to face the two intruders who were lounging on her bed. She put her hand on her chin and glared at them.
"If you're so hungry, go and get Mira to make you something at the guild! Or go home and make something for yourself," she said, obviously annoyed.
"But Luce, we came here to spend time with you! The guild is so dull right now anyway – Erza, Gray and Wendy are off on a job together, as are Lisanna and Elfman, Juvia isn't worth talking to since Gray isn't here and I'd much rather spend time with you than Gajeel, who's probably busy with Levy anyway," Natsu whined, rolling around on Lucy's bed.
"Aye." Happy chimed in. "Charle is with Wendy, and I have no idea where Lily is. You're the only one left, Lucy!"
"Oh, so I was your last choice?" she said, narrowing her eyes at happy. "Fine. If I entertain you for a while, you'll leave right? I guess I do have a couple of hours to spare," she said reluctantly.
"Yay! Thanks Luce!" Natsu cried, running over to the blonde and throwing his arms around her. "So, what's for dinner?" he asked. " I'm starving!"
"Ugh, Natsu. You really are a pain. Fine!" she said, putting her hands up in defeat. "I'll make you something." She walked over to her fridge and opened the door. "What did you have in mind?"
"Fish!" Happy cried.
"Fire pasta!"
"I don't have either of those, sorry. I'll just make some omelettes, okay?" she said, taking out eggs, ham and cheese from her fridge. She set them down on her countertop, took out a bowl and cracked a couple of eggs into it before setting about whisking them. Natsu had gotten off her bed and walked over to her, and was now crouched down watching her hands very carefully. He narrowed his eyes in concentration as Lucy poured the egg mixture into a frying pan. Lucy was not fazed by him watching like this – it was normal Natsu behaviour.
"Lucy, it's taking too long! I'm hungry!" He complained folding his arms.
"Be patient, Natsu! This one's nearly done." Lucy was now grating cheese and scattering chopped ham over the egg. She folded it over and slid it onto a plate. When Natsu made a grab for it, she pulled the plate away from him.
"Ah ah ah! Not for you! This one is for Happy." She said, setting the plate on the table.
"Yummy! Thanks Lucy!" Happy thanked Lucy before tucking into his plate of food.
"Whaa? No fair Luce!" Natsu said, obviously disgruntled.
"Be patient! I'm making yours now." she said, pouring more egg mixture into the frying pan.
"Hey! Let me cook this one; you're way too slow, Lucy!" Natsu cried, grabbing the pan from Lucy. "Fire Dragon Roar!" he shouted, fire spewing out of his mouth onto the omelette.
"NATSU! Wait, Natsu – stop, now! YOU'LL BURN IT YOU IDIOT!" Lucy cried out, but it was too late – the omelette was now black and charred.
"Yeah, time to eat!" Natsu said, stuffing the entire omelette in his mouth all at once. "Wow Luce, your cooking is the best!" He hugged his friend. Lucy sweat dropped.
"Honestly Natsu..." she giggled, hugging him back.
