AN: This is loosely based off a scene from Les Miserables where Valjean meets Cosette and is supposed to be writen sometime before the curse is broken. I'm just going off of the trailers so I hope you like it!
Emma huddled against the stony wall of her hiding place, it had been hours since her foster mother had banished her outside and it was cold and snowy, tears slipped freely down the young girls cheeks where were her parents? Were they looking for her? Emma closed her eyes and she could see them her mother lips red as blood, skin white a snow, hair black as night. And her father handsome, regal every inch a prince. Emma thought she heard a horse approaching and peered out from her hiding place. When she saw nothing she concluded that she must've been mistaken. Sighing Emma was about to turn away when a strange man burst into the clearing, fear gripped Emma she could not she the man's face and was afraid. Emma tried to make herself small and unnoticeable she screwed her eyes up tight and prayed for salvation. Unfortunately the man had seen her.
"Emma?" Emma's eyes opened as the man drew nearer she could see his face now and her heart leapt into her throat. He knelt down to her a funny sort of grin playing on his features as he did so
"Mademoiselle" Emma let out a cry of joy and rushed into his arms.
"Papa!" Her father laughed and hugged her close as they both fell back into the snow. Emma clung tight to him frightened that it would all be a dream.
"I thought you'd never come! Now we can go home to Mama!" James kissed his daughter's forehead
"That's right my love," just then they heard Emma's foster mother call out
"Emma you little brat where are you?" She snapped
"Oh it's her!" Emma cried
"Papa don't let go of me!" Emma said clinging to her father.
"It's ok, I'll keep you safe" Her father whispered. Picking his daughter James carried her towards the house where her foster mother was. The woman gasped and fell into a deep curtsy.
"Your Highness" she muttered and then she saw Emma.
"Emma come away from there dear" Emma's grip tightened she trembled in fear. Emma's foster mother had no patience and tried to rip Emma from James' arms
"Come away from there I said!"
"Papa!" Emma cried tears soaking her face
"I'm so sorry your Highness, a confused little urchin she is" the woman said as she struggled to control Emma, anger flashed in James' eyes.
"You dare speak that way of your princess?" The woman gasped releasing Emma who ran to James who once again picked her up.
"Good day madam, I'll be taking my daughter home now." The woman watched stunned as James carried Emma over to his steed and mounted before riding off with her income source.
Emma woke up stunned she lay on the couch in the apartment she shared with Mary Margaret, her headphones where in and her Ipod was playing One Day More from Les Miserables.
"One day more! Another day, another destiny. This never-ending road to Calvary;" Emma sighed and hit pause. I've been listening to Henry too much. Emma thought.
