I don't know, never did.

But this man gaze up at something I can't even see.

That was why I follow him. It is still why I follow him now.

But sometimes... I just can't help but feel annoyed at him. Loathing him for constantly peering at an unseen dream. For always reaching up to grab nothing but illusions.

This is one such time.

He was leaning against the balcony railing, while I recline to the wall behind. And, as ever, Erwin stares up toward the open night sky.

"Levi, do you think we will succeed in the expedition tomorrow?"

I arched an eyebrow. Erwin rarely doubt himself. This is unexpected of him.

"Even if we succeed some will die. If we don't more will. That's all there is to it, isn't that want you say all the time? That we have no choice but to succeed?"

The Commander keeps staring forward, never wavering, never even think to look back.

I joined him at the edge of the balcony.

It was a while before the blond started talking again.

"I wonder when we will finally be victorious... when will all of mankind be able to take off and fly as far as they want in this world."

Levi followed Erwin's gaze. The stars shine so brightly. It's disgusting. There was no future written in the stars, yet Erwin kept watching them.

Maybe it was jealousy.

He don't know, never did. But sometimes, he's tired of not knowing.

"Hey, Erwin."

Blue eyes finally turns on him, gaze quizzical.

Levi answered by putting a hand behind his neck, pulling him down until their foreheads were touching.

Metallic grey eyes sought oceanic ones, fighting for attention.

"...Just stop looking up, and gaze down at me for once, you idiot."
