Disclaimer: I do not own Eldoth - no one owns Eldoth, actually, even though Skie would say otherwise. The first ballad is based on a quote from one of the banters written by the creators of BG NPC Project - "Don't play cards with a man named Doc. Never eat at a place called Mom's. And never lay down with a girl who has more trouble than you". I do not own the quote, either, but - thanks for inspiration, G3. :)

Three Truths Ballad

Once a young lad he spoke to me thusly:
'Eldoth Kron, word with you, if I might?
You're a man of sharp wit and grand songs,
Would you kindly give me some advice?'

I replied 'Mark my words, dear friend,
For the great truths of life there are three.
My good master named them on his dying bed.
And now I shall share them with thee.

Don't play cards with a man named Doc,
Never eat a one - gold - piece stew,
And never, oh, never lay down with a girl
Who has more trouble than you!

'Tis all to it, dear fellow, 'tis simple'
'But... it's hardly heroic', he said.
Then I spoke: 'Tis a shame I'm no hero
Yet, a good thing that I am not dead.'

Don't play cards with a man named Doc,
Never eat a one - gold - piece stew,
And never, oh, never lay down with a girl,
Who has more trouble than you!
