No Surprises

John squeezed Sherlock's hand, Sherlock didn't respond this time. John softly stroked his hair, and this time the detective opened his eyes. They just looked at each other, Sherlock looked into John's teary eyes, and John into Sherlock's tired and now almost transparent eyes.
"It hurts" Sherlock said quietly.

"I know Sherlock, but this is you final fit, your final bellyache, you won't feel anything more after this"

"Why? I'd like to stay…" Sherlock mumbled, and lost his words. "John."

"It will be fine Sherlock, you'll be fine, no alarms and no surprises"

"I want you…" Sherlock's eyes slowly got filled with tears as well. "I want you… To be fine… Not me"

John didn't manage to answer, he just squeezed Sherlock's hand again, harder this time. He sobbed quietly, and placed a kiss on Sherlock's forehead. His black locks were sweaty and sleeked to his head, and he was wearing a way to big hospital shirt.

"Such a pretty house… Such a pretty garden…" Sherlock whispered.

"It will be over soon, no alarms and no surprises," John whispered back.

"John…" Sherlock exhaled. He inhaled. Exhaled. John just sat there, listened to Sherlock's last breaths.

"Goodbye John…" Sherlock exhaled once more. "I love you John…" He took a last breath, and then everything was just silent. John didn't understand it first, Sherlock, his flatmate, best friend, lover and soulmate was gone. Some nurses went in to the room. John didn't move, he sat still on his chair, still holding Sherlock's hand.

"No alarms and no surprises" He whispered to himself once again. "No alarms, no surprises and no Sherlock."
