Lisbon hated slow days; days which passed with their minutes as hours, their cups of coffee seemingly by the minute and their paperwork stacking up sky-high on her desk by the second. Sighing to herself, she again buried her nose into yet another witness report which had to be reviewed for a case which her and her team were currently working on.
She barely noticed Jane stumble in halfway through her fourth page of the witness account and collapse onto her couch. He didn't say anything; just wandered in from the bustling CBI office outside and fell into her couch in her quiet office, and appeared to promptly fall asleep.
She just assumed it was too noisy out there for him at the moment.
She forgot about the consultant immediately and continued on with her paperwork. It must have been a few hours later (which only appeared to feel like half an hour) when Lisbon noticed the quiet in her office was being disturbed. At first she assumed it to be the noisy office outside getting even louder, but when she looked over to her occupied couch; she actually discovered it to be Jane.
Jane was sleep-talking. She paused, pen hovering over the paper on her desk, and listened to her partner mumble. It was incoherent at first... but soon she was able to pick out certain words and phrases. Curiosity overtook her and her important paperwork was forgotten.
She left the vicinity of her busy desk, heels clicking on the wooden floor as she made her way over to the couch.
"Angela," was the phrase Lisbon heard most in her time of observing Jane. It was usually accompanied with a scrunched expression and sometimes even a faint whimper.
It was a sound Lisbon rarely heard from the hardy blonde man, and so something compelled her to set her hand gently on his head to calm him. He leant into her touch, a ghost of a smile hovering on his lips as he slept.
"Angela," he repeated again, but this time it was more soothing; seductive, even. Lisbon shivered. "Angela," Jane again said; more urgently, leaning into Lisbon's touch. "Angela?"
"No, Lisbon." The words fell out of her mouth, surprising her and apparently Jane.
The consultant's murmuring seized, but soon enough there was another slight smile on his face again. "Lisbon." he confirmed with her as contently as he had with Angela's name before.
Said Lisbon creased her brow, removing her hand from Jane's hair and taking a deep breath. This was so very far from professional, she decided.
She was going to slap his shoulder with the back of hand, but the consultant mumbled, "Angela? Lisbon?"
Lisbon looked up at the ceiling, uttering another sigh, before looking at the sleeping figure of Jane again. "I'm right here, Jane." she assured him.
"D'n't go." he told her; still asleep.
She smiled ever so slightly, even though he couldn't see. "I won't."
