My Lover's Mask
The day started off like any other. I was traveling with Zabuza and Haku to the village hidden in the clouds for an important assassination of a man who raped a young man's daughter. I personally didn't enjoy being a rouge ninja, but there was nowhere else for me to go. When I was young, well younger, my family tried to kill me because they believed I was a disgrace since I didn't inherit the clan's Kekkei Genkai. Suddenly Zabuza's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Let's stop here for the night. We'll be there tomorrow." He said strictly.
"Can't we keep walking? We have been traveling for three days, come on Zabuza." I begged.
"No, it will be to dark."
"Emma, you know Zabuza's right, and we don't want a repeat of last time now do we." Haku stated having to bring up the one incident I did not want to remember.
One night we had been traveling and thanks to my great persuasive skills, well at least that one instance they were great, and I saw a light in the distance. I thought it was a village, but it turned out to be enemy ninja. Zabuza and Haku didn't notice that I had wondered off, so I had to face them on my own. It wasn't too hard, but once I finished them off I was lost. It took about three hours to find them and when I did they weren't too happy.
"Emma put together your tent!" Zabuza yelled scaring me back into the present.
"Yeah, okay Zabuza."
After I put my tent up I decided to go to sleep. Later in the night I woke up and wondered into the forest, finding a lake. I sat next to the edge and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
~HAKU'S POINT OF VIEW~
In the middle of the night I woke up and decided to check on Emma to make sure she hasn't done anything to reckless, since she enjoys disobeying Zabuza's orders. When I walked into the tent she was missing and I knew instantly that she had gone into the forest. After searching a little while I found her sleeping next to a small lake. Upon seeing her I had a felling it was time to tell her that I loved her. I didn't see any reason to keep her in the dark of my feelings anymore; I just hope she returns them. I quickly walked over to her and shook her awake gently as if she was porcelain.
~ REAGULAR POINT OF VIEW ~
I woke up suddenly from someone shaking me. After my eyes adjusted I recognized Haku and couldn't help thinking how handsome he looked in the moonlight.
"Haku I'm so sor-"
Before I could finish my sentence Haku's lips were on mine, though before I could respond he broke away.
"Emma I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that."
I just smiled at him and kissed him back and he responded instantly. As soon as he did I melted, I couldn't imagine what made me hold back from kissing him before. Sadly we had to break apart for much needed air.
"Emma I'm sorry, but I love you so much, much more than I ever thought possible. I just hope you feel the same, but if you don't then I completely understand."
"Haku I feel the exact same way, I have since the first time I laid my eyes on you and I will continue to love you for the rest of my life."
~ HAKU'S POINT OF VIEW ~
That night was two years ago. Today Zabuza and I are visiting her grave. That was the happiest night of my life, I wish I could go back in time and be there again with her in my arms. She had this way of making me feel whole and she was torn away from me. If only we hadn't run into enemy ninja, and if I hadn't been knocked out, she would still be here with us. I would still be able to feel her skin on mine, hold her, and kiss her. I miss her so much, she was the one who I was meant to be with and now she's gone. She was the one that helped me tear away my mask and in way she became it, she was my everything, and my lover's mask and always will be.
