Danny was walking home from school alone. Sam and Tucker had been absent, cruise and cold respectively. "This day can't get any worse," the black-haired teen muttered to himself. "First, Dash throws me into the cafeteria trash can, then I failed Mr. Lancer's test again, and now I have to walk home on the coldest day of the year!" Danny kept muttering, oblivious to the figure flying above him.
"So, this is the famous Danny Phantom. Can't say I'm very impressed." The black-clad being landed on top of a tree across the street from the Fenton residence, then dropped onto the sidewalk, his black armor now blue jeans and a black T-shirt with the Spawn chain skull emblazoned on the front. "Now, to see if my first impression is accurate."
Danny kept his head down during dinner, enduring the normal noise of Jazz trying to convince their dad that he needed to control himself better over the noise of his parents telling Jazz that this wasn't the time or place to discuss this. He finished eating, and went up to his room without the others even noticing. He opened his door, and started back when he saw someone laying on his bed leafing through one of his textbooks. The stranger glanced over at him, then went right back to reading the book. "Yet you still wonder why you're a C student. Maybe if you actually read the text, you could easily pull up to a B."
"Uh, who are you, and what are you doing in my room?"
"Me? I'm Death, master of all that is dead or alive. I have more power over the dead, though. As to what I'm doing here, I've come to let you in on a little piece of information. You, Danny Phantom, have exactly three months to live. Unless you decide to listen. I warn you, you won't like what you'll hear if you decide to listen." While he had been talking, he had gotten up and now stood only inches away from the half-ghost.
Danny just stood there, not sure of what to make of the current situation. "Let me get this straight. I can either roll over and die, or do something about it. Wait a minute, how can I even be sure you're who you say you are?" He let out a slight yelp when he felt something march him across the room and kneel before the white-haired stranger.
"Now do you believe? Destroying your free will, though amusing, is not on my agenda. What is your decision?"
Danny stood up, the feeling gone. He rubbed his head, then sat down on his bed. "I'll listen."
"Good. In three months, Clockwork will lose control of your future self, but something will go wrong when he tries to prevent him from going through the portal. All of the dark power will be released into the world, during this timeline. It will fuse permanently with someone, transforming them into your worst nightmare. Their sole purpose will become your destruction. They will hunt you down, never stopping until you are found. I'm here to offer my services. As of right now, you are nowhere near strong enough to handle this threat. I can help change that. What say you?"
"Do you know who's going to be possessed?"
"Someone very close to you, though not related."
"Tucker or Sam?"
"That I cannot tell you."
"I'll do it."
