Authors Note: Right, so I have not forgotten my other stories, my computer crashed with everything on it *sad face* so I have to go about it all from scratch which is gonna take a while – but with this shiny new computer I will get there! For now, here is a little scene I couldn't get out of my head. Take care all, thanks for reading.

Disclaimer: I do not own these characters or any Hollows information. It all belongs to the great Kim Harrison, I just get to play around with them in my head.

She sighed, the sound lost amongst the noise of the pixies. She watched, unseen, as Rachel continued to play with Bis and the pixies in the garden, her flaming red hair flying loose of its ponytail as she ducked and dived out of the way of the squealing pixie hoard. The evening light cast a soft glow on the scene that made Ivy's chest tighten with love for her odd family. Jenks, still not the same after Mattie, watched quietly on from his stump, his wings a peaceful green. She was not a part of this, standing on the edge, and this thought pained her. She would never fit completely into the witches' life as she so desperately wanted; she was always on the sidelines, watching over her dear heart. As one pixie came too close to the step she was stood on, she saw Rachel turn and catch her eye, seeing Ivy as if for the first time. The look on the red heads face was one of pure happiness as she held her hand out to the living vampire. Ivy looked upon the outstretched hand and pictured herself taking it, being a part of the beautiful scene she had been watching. Could she do that, knowing there would be nothing more. Was this friendship enough in the face of her undying love for the witch? Pixies buzzed around her, oblivious to her inner turmoil. A faint flash of confusion crossed Rachel's face, and unconsciously Ivy's body made the decision for her. She had taken a step forward and slipped her long slim fingers into Rachel's. Immediately her friend curled her fingers around the vampires, and gave her a gentle tug into the fray of pixies. As the sun finally dipped below the horizon Ivy thought that this would be enough, her fingers warm from where they had stayed, entwined with Rachel's. This would be enough.
