In all honesty, when Jesse was in the New Directions, Kurt had taken to ignoring him whenever he said anything. It wasn't that Kurt didn't care about Jesse's opinions (which were occasionally good, from what Tina said), just that…he had more important things on his mind.
Therefore, Kurt had forgotten that Jesse lived with his uncle for the sake of being eligible to transfer to McKinley. Maybe if he'd remembered that, he would have suspected some sort of connection from his internet pen pal Marc St. James(who had told Kurt in advance that he would be in town, to visit relatives), to Jesse St. James.
Only Kurt hadn't remembered that little fact (or hadn't known to begin with; he's still not entirely sure, considering that that whole period of time is a blur of misogyny, attempted badassery, and dates with Brittany), so now, as he's wrapped up in the friendly-but-cautious for fear of wrinkling embrace of his online friend, his eyes are locked on the familiar figure behind said friend.
The familiar figure, with the familiar smirk on his face, and the not quite so familiar but still memorable voice that's asking, "Kurt Hummel, of the McKinley High New Directions? I'm surprised you two know each other – how did you and my cousin meet?"
Marc pulls away from Kurt and turns to look between the former teammates with a pleased smile on his face, while verifying the now-obvious, "You two know each other?"
Jesse replies with something in a condescending tone of voice, but Kurt's already tuned out again, and doesn't know what it is that's being said. Instead, he's more focused on groaning inwardly and debating about whether or not calling Rachel for backup would be a suicidal, or just horrific, idea.

AN: IDGAF if Marc's last name is Weiner; Jesse and Marc will forever be related in my mind.
