Disclaimer: Sydney, Nigel, Claudia, Karen and Trinity College belong to whoever they belong to, not me (unfortunately).  I'm just playing with them for a WHILE.

Thank you to everyone who kindly read and reviewed the first part of this story.  It was my first attempt at fan fiction and I wasn't sure if I would be able to continue it but here's part two.  I don't know if it's any good, but I'm sure you'll tell me.  All reviews, good or bad, are welcome.

A Letter Home – Part Two

Dear Claudia,

Sorry I haven't written sooner but it's been a crazy couple of months.  It's been one relic hunt after another, work's really piling up at the office because I just don't have time to see to it all and I've fallen in love.

I know you're dying to know who with, but I'm going to be mean and not tell you until the end of the letter (NO PEEKING).

I have just got back from two weeks vacation in England, which I badly needed.  Stayed in a little bed and breakfast just outside Oxford.  Even with the famous English weather I had a fantastic time. That's where I met HIM.  I bet you're wondering how Nigel feels about me being in love.  He thinks it's fantastic, he's so happy for me. Maybe because he's finally found someone that I think makes him happy too.

How's the new job doing?  I hope all is well with you.  Karen (I told you about her) is doing really well as your replacement but we miss having you around the office.  You were occasionally helpful (just joking!) even if you did drive us nuts sometimes.  I think Karen has an even bigger crush on Nigel than you did, if that's possible.

I had no idea being in love could feel this good.  Every other relationship I've ever had, I've always been the one in control.  Now I find I'm not and it's a little bit scary, but I like it at the same time.  Isn't that strange?  I just hope one day you find someone who'll love you as much as he love me.  Who knows, maybe you already have and just haven't told me about it.  If this is the case, you're in serious trouble next time I see you.

Okay, I'm going to tell you as much I can about the new man in my life without actually telling you his name.  He's English, which isn't surprising as I met him in England (plus the last couple of years I've had this thing about English accents for some reason).  He actually works just round the corner so it's amazing I've never noticed him before.  Both his parents are dead but he does have a brother and sister, although he's not particularly close to his brother.  He works just as hard as I do so that's not going to be a problem.  I just hope that now we're back it's not going to turn out to be nothing but a holiday romance.  Well I'll just have to work at it and try to make sure the romance doesn't go out of the relationship before it's even started.

I've got to go, the phones ringing.  I'll finish this later.

Love,

Sydney.

P.S.  Sorry I didn't finish the letter sooner, but that was him on the phone.  He wanted to know if he could come over and talk to me.  I thought he was going to tell me it was over but it was much, much better than that.

He proposed!  I need you back here as soon as possible for the first fitting for your bridesmaid dress, assuming you'd like to be one of my bridesmaids.  Karen's going to be the other one.  What colour dress do you want?

PPS.  By the way, I'm going to be Mrs. Nigel Bailey.  I guess it wasn't just a holiday romance after all.  Who knew?
