When no words are needed

Sometimes actions speak louder than words

Ana stood at the helm of the Black Pearl watching Jack silently. He leaned on the rail of the ship, his elbows supporting his weight. In his right hand, he held a rum bottle. His mouth held a cigarette and his left hand kept busy by having his thumb twirl a ring on one of his fingers.

The crew had gone ashore to an island, but the Captain and first mate hadn't joined them.

Ana sighed as she watched Jack shift his weight to a more comfortable position. The breeze fluttered her hair as she descended from the helm, joining her Captain at the rail. Standing next to him now, she glanced at him. But his gaze was on something far off in the distance. She looked out at the ocean, finding what he was looking at, she smiled too.

He was watching the sunset. The sun was slowly sinking lower and lower beyond the horizon, casting colors over the sky. Still not speaking, he set the now empty rum bottle down on the deck. With both his hands now free, she pulled on them, bringing him up behind her.

Noticing the cigarette still in his mouth, she rolled her eyes and snatched it from him, crushing it under her boot as it fell to the deck. "Those things will kill you." She always told him, but he never listened.

She leaned back into his chest and smiled when she felt his arms wrap around her waist and his chin graze her shoulder, lightly resting there. He smelled of seawater, rum and a hint of smoke.

She grinned, this was Jack's sent and she loved it. Still silent he leaned over, kissing her neck softly then leaned his head against hers as they watched the sun slip beyond the horizon, giving the moon and stars permission to come out in the coming hours.

No words had been spoken tonight, for it has often been said that actions speak louder than words.

A.N. Sorry if it was too short for any one's tastes. If you have an idea or request for a story, leave it in a review, I've been running low on ideas. Thanks.
