"Need You Now"

"It's a quarter after one and I'm all

Alone but I need you now"

A/N: Wrote this fic on paper at work while listening to Lady Antebellum "Need you know." If you haven't heard it you should go download it. Anyways, it's short but I hope you enjoy. Please review.

Disclaimer: I don't own Mass Effect. It belongs to the awesomeness of Bioware. I just like to make them dance. XD

Her memories were scattered all around the floor. She wondered if she ever crossed his mind. To her it happened all the time. She was lonely and she needed him. She grabbed the bottle of whiskey on the floor and took a sip as she sorted through her picture perfect memories, their happy memories. She promised herself she wouldn't contact him at all. He had moved on, but she was losing control. She stood up and slowly stumbled to her private terminal. She sat and rested her head on her arms. She looked up at the clock on her desk. A quarter after one. She turned on her terminal and searched for his email. As she read it over and over she clicked on the reply button. Her slender fingers slowly worked the keyboard. "I need you." Slowly she leaned into her chair and reached over hitting the 'cancel' button. She stood up and headed towards the elevator.

He kept staring at his terminal. He read the message he had typed over and over. "I need you." He ran his fingers through his thick black hair. He wondered if he ever crossed her mind, to him it happened all the time. He had tried to contact her before but after a lack of response he promised he wouldn't anymore. He was losing control. Turning to wall beside him he saw the time. A quarter after one. He reached up and hit the 'cancel' button, turned and headed out the door.

Shepard was walking down the docking bay thinking about all the times they had snuck out in the middle of the night. Slowly she made her way to their favorite bar on the Citadel, the place where they had last enjoyed each other. After that day, she died. Her loneliness caught up to her and tears flowed down her cheeks. She didn't know how she could do this without him.

Kaiden sat at the bar taking shots of whiskey, her favorite drink. He couldn't help clenching his fists when he remembered what an ass he had been to her. He accused of horrible things without even letting her explain. Now he was here sitting in the last place they had been together. He took another shot of whiskey and turned to stare at the door. He wished she would just sweep in like she had before. He felt alone. He was a little drunk but he needed her.

Shepard walked into the bar and made her way to the back. She didn't want anyone to see her. As she took a shot of whiskey the man across the room caught her eyes. There he was, staring back at her. She stood up and slowly started to walk towards him. Her heart ached as the memories of their encounter on Horizon came back crushing into her mind like a wave. She didn't care that he didn't want her. She would rather feel the pain of his rejection than feel nothing at all. She was a little drunk but she needed him now.

Kaiden put his glass down and with the back of his hand wiped the tears that had welled up in his eyes. As he looked up the woman across the bar caught his eyes. There she was, staring back at him He stood up and his heart began to ache. He knew she didn't want him anymore but he didn't care. He slowly made his way towards her. He would rather feel the pain of her rejection than feel nothing at all.

In the middle of the bar they stood, staring into each other's eyes. After what seemed like an eternity to them they closed the distance between them.

"I just need you now…" The words came out of their mouths in perfect sync. They embraced and all the anguish they had felt melted away.

A/N: Sooooooooo….. um…. Yeah. Hope you liked it. And go listen to the song.
