It's Too Late to ApologizeBy musiclover94
"Zac, why aren't you listing to me?!" Vanessa yelled at her boyfriend.
"Nessa, I am! I understand why you feels this way, but I am not cheating on you!" Zac said calmly.
"How will I know the truth, Zac? You could change your mind at any mind at any moment! I don't want to get hurt again, Zac!" Vanessa exclaimed.
"Van, Mica is just a friend! I love you her, not her! I love you with all my soul!" Zac pleaded, hoping his girlfriend of two years would have a change of heart.
Vanessa just looked at him with a disgusted look on her face.
"Vanessa, I swear I'm not changing!" Zac said.
"Zac, you haven't made time for just the two of us to go out on a date. It's like you have two lives, one with me and one at the studio. I know your movies are important to you, but it's like you're completely forgetting about our promise we made to each other, that we would always make time for each other. So, I'll make it easier on you. Goodbye." Vanessa said, tears threatening to run down her cheeks.
"Vanessa, wait!" Zac pleaded, holding out a hand to try to stop her. Vanessa just shoved it out of the way and walked out of Zac's life. Forever.
A week later, Zac was feeling horrible about the incident. He was dialing Vanessa's cell number when Ashley's picture popped up on the screen.
"Ashley?" he asked into the phone.
"Zac…something horrible happened…to Vanessa…" Ashley said between sobs.
Zac almost dropped the phone. "What happened?" he asked shakily.
"She got hit by a…a truck." she replied, barely able to say the words.
"What?! Where's the hospital?" he sputtered. His world was spinning around him at top speed.
"Kias Hospital." she said.
"I'll be there in two minutes," he said quickly and hung up the phone.
"Where is Vanessa Hudgens' room?" Zac gasped.
"Room 3." the receptionist cracked her gum, no questions asked.
"Thanks." he said and ran to the room.
When he opened the door, he saw that Ashley, Drew, Corbin, Lucas, and Monique were already there, along with Vanessa's family.
"How is she?" Zac asked.
"Not good." Corbin said.
Troy looked at her and almost fainted. Vanessa, his Nessa, was covered in bruises and blood. She had several long cuts down her face and arms. Her beautiful brown hair was in bunches. Zac backed away.
"What happened?" was all he could get out.
"Well, not much. She got hit, and, well, you know…" Lucas said quietly. Troy nodded solemnly.
By midnight, everyone else had to leave, but Zac stayed. He just held her hand for hours on end. He felt even more horrible than before.
"Please, Nessa, wake up…please…" Zac said, tears threatening to fall.
He looked up at the beeping monitors that were keeping Vanessa alive. They were still beeping.
A flat, loud beep radiated from the machines, and Zac swore that Vanessa weakly squeezed his hand.
"…Zac?…" Vanessa whispered.
"Nessa? I am so.." he began, but the rest of the message was blacked out by a blazing beep from the heart machine, which only meant one thing: she was slipping away, and fast.
And then the thing that Zac had been dreading since getting the call happened: the machine monitor went flat.
"No, Nessa…this can't be happening…wake up!" Zac shook her, but it didn't do anything: Vanessa's hand still felt limp and cold in Zac's.
"Vanessa, I'm sorry." Zac whispered. But he knew it was too late. He had run out of time.
