It's nearing dawn when Hermione finds him. He's lying in the dirt underneath the debris from the collapsed bridge and she's sure he's dead but somehow his chest is moving.

"Wingardium Leviosa." Hermione says in a tired but firm voice. The piece of bridge on top of him floats off to the side and she hears him let out a sigh of relief as he takes deep breaths.

Hermione collapses next to him and grips his hand as she scans his body. Most of his bones are broken. It looks like his neck is snapped too. Hermione chokes out a sob, bowing her head slightly.

"Thought I could smell vanilla. 'Ello beautiful." The man croaks out, wincing.

"Scabior." Hermione whispers, tears falling. "H-how are you alive?"

"No idea. Just am." Scabior tries to shrug but winces again. "Nice to know that you remembered my name."

"Of course I did. I'm going to get help." Hermione tells him and goes to get up.

"No. Stay 'ere." Scabior pleads, squeezing her hand and ignoring the pain it brought. "Please. Just stay."

"But-"

"I'm gonna die, beautiful. I'll be dead before you even make it back down 'ere with help." Scabior tells her, "But I don't want to die alone. I've been alone most of my life. Don't let me die alone. Just stay with me."

Hermione sobs as she holds onto his hands, "I'm so sorry, Scabior. I wish I could help you."

"Why?" Scabior asks, his voice getting weaker. "I snatched you. I took you to Malfoy Manor. You were tortured 'cos of me."

"Yes you did. But that doesn't mean you deserve to die. You were just doing your job." Hermione tells him, running her hands through his long hair. She leans down to his ear and whispers, "I forgive you."

"Thank you." Scabior sighs before shutting his eyes. "Stay."

"Until the very end." Hermione promises.

"Goodbye beautiful." Scabior mumbles.

His chest rises once... twice...

Scabior's grip on Hermione's hand slackens and his chest doesn't rise a third time.

OMG! So I was watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and wondered what happened to Scabior and the rest after the bridge collapsed. So I wrote this. :D I hope you like it :D xx
