Note: This is my alternate ending of Noir, because I felt bad for Chloe. Chloe x Kirika (yuri) I do not own Noir
Kirika stood looking between Mirielle and Chloe helplessly. She knew that now was the time in which she would have to choose. Now was the time in which Kirika would have to choose. Choose who would become Noir with her.
Chloe looked at Kirika with wide puppy dog eyes. Mirielle was obviously nervous.
Kirika's mind was flooded with memories of her journey -her pilgrimage- with Mirielle. Of the last words of Mirielle's mother "Take care of my Mirielle." So Kirika made her choice. Mirielle was her partner, and more importantly, her friend.
And so Kirika spoke. But the name that emerged from her mouth was not ÔMirielle'.
"Chloe," said Kirika in a barely audible whisper.
Chloe's face lit up.
At first Kirika was shocked, Mirielle was her friend. Why had the name she'd spoken been ÔChloe'? And then an earlier moment was remembered.
A pool. A beautiful pool. Kirika was standing in the pool. It came up to her waist. She saw Chloe. Chloe was naked. Kirika was also naked, although somehow she did not feel exposed, even as Chloe looked at her. Chloe smiled and leaned towards her. And then Chloe kissed her. On the lips. Hard. Kirika was surprised. And pleased. Chloe was almost biting her now. Kirika became aware of the bittersweet taste of her own blood. It was more sweet than bitter.
Now Kirika understood why she had spoken ÔChloe'. Mirielle was her friend. But Chloe was her other half.
Mirielle knew she had been rejected. And it hurt her deeply. But she had too much pride. So she stood and turned walking swiftly away. Mirielle liked to think that she did not look back because Kirika did not matter to her. In truth it was because she couldn't bear the thought of Kirika seeing her tears.
"Mirielle, wait..." said Kirika far too softly to be heard.
Chloe yelled out "Perhaps we could have a tea party again some time!
Kirika slumped. A single sob escaped her throat as the tears rolled down her cheeks. Chloe knelt beside her.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Kirika sobbed again. "I - I never w -wanted to hurt her," she stammered out.
Chloe knew she should feel sadness for the heart break of Kirika's friend. But she was still too overjoyed. Kirika had picked her. Her. Chloe. A small smile formed on her face. Chloe pulled Kirika onto her lap and held her tight, until the tears subsided.
Kirika looked up at Chloe. "Do you know why I chose you?" she asked.
Chloe had hoped and prayed for this moment all of her life. But she needed to hear it from Kirika's lips.
"Why?" she asked softly, savoring the moment.
The next three words Kirika spoke were, according to some, the hardest for anyone to ever say. But for Kirika they came out with the ease of finally sharing a happy truth.
"I love you.
Chloe was overjoyed. She could have screamed. Danced. Skipped. Instead she whispered the words she had wanted to speak for so long.
"I love you too.
So they sat there in a peaceful loving bliss for some time longer, watching the flowers as they lazily drifted down in the pink twilight.
Later that night Chloe would throw away the fork she had treasured for so long, knowing that she now had something even better.
