They hoverboarded through the trees, their silence solemn and meaningful. Both of them had one hand out to keep them steady, the other one grasped the opposite's in a protective gesture. These were the moments to remember.

If only it was that simple.

Tally shot up in bed, her eyes wide and streaming, her heart beating wildly, her skin drenched in sweat. Why did she keep having these dreams about her old ugly days?

She needed Shay.

After several nervous pings to her best friend, a fuzzy, tired voice answered hers.

"Tally, what--"

"Shay, oh thank god. You have to help me. I've been having these utterly bogus dreams. Can you come to my place and just talk to me, maybe it'll take my mind off those... dreams."

"Tally, it's 3:00 in the morning. Why don't you just go to some party or walk around that new pleasure garden?"

"No, Shay, I need you. Please, this is serious."

Muffled sighs could be heard on the other line as if Shay was considering.

"All right, all right. I'll come. But you're gonna owe me big time, Tally-wa."

"Thanks Shay-la. You're the best."

After ten minutes of pacing around her luxurious room, Shay knocked on her door and entered quickly, shutting the door tightly behind her. Even with bed-hair, bleary eyes, and smeared mascara, Shay looked stunning. This was how a pretty always looked, gorgeous, vulnerable, loveable.

Tally closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. She needed to collect her thoughts. But that might be harder than she thought.

"Tally! What is this about? I'm here now, so you better start explaining."

Tally opened her eyes, gulped, and started talking. Shay listened, wide-eyed and all-ears as Tally told her of the past month's disturbing and wonderful dreams. When she was finally done, Shay was the one who was speechless.

"Tally, wow. I never knew... Oh, Tally!"

She had rushed forward suddenly, giving Tally a tremendous hug and telling her everything would be okay.

"I know what you should do, Tally-wa! Go to Zane! He's the leader of the Crims, he'll know what to do. And besides, I saw him checking you out at the party the other night."

"Ha!" Tally gave a weak laugh. "Get real Shay! He is soo beyond my league."
