Prologue: Promise
This just had to be a dream.
There was just no way that this could be real.
That this beautiful, wonderful man could love me? Want me?
I couldn't believe it.
But then again, I didn't have to.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
I could feel the intensity of his love as he stared at me with his burning, topaz eyes.
I smiled brightly as my eyes filled with tears.
"You may now kiss the bride."
My angel wiped away the tears threatening to spill over with his thumb causing me to laugh softly at my own silliness.
Then he leaned down and kissed me- his promise to love me forever.
I kissed back with everything I had- my promise to love him forever.
It was perfect…
…even if that day would never come.
