So today I was helping set up for the Expo Explosion tomorrow. It's this annual pole vaulting meet that my pole vaulting club hosts every year and...I found a zip-tue that had been cut and I started playing with it...Then I thought about how much like Will I was. Then the devious idea-smile came across my face and I decided that Idefinitely had to do it. So here we are.
Zip. Zip. Zip.
The sounds echoed through the otherwise silent cabin. Halt closed his eyes, knowing that Will was more than likely to source of these sounds.
Shaking his head, Halt walked into the kitchen, where the sounds were coming from.
Sure enough, Will was sitting at the table, an open bag of zip-ties near him. Will had pulled through many of them already, steadily making his way through the bag.
Zip-ties. I should have known that he would find them. Halt thought as he watched his still unaware apprentice.
"Will, what are you doing?" Halt finally said.
Will jumped. "Oh my gosh, Halt, you scared me half to death!" He said, somehow managing to completely avoid Halt's question.
Halt looked at his apprentice. "How did you find those zip-ties?"
"Well, you know, I was wandering around and it came to my attention that the attic could maybe possibly need dusting so I ran to get the dusting supplies, but then I remembered that we don't have an attic, so I stopped going to get the dusting supplies." Zip. "Then I didn't know what to do, so I went to my room for a while and when I was in there—"
"Can you maybe get to the part where you find the zip-ties?" Hal interrupted.
"I was getting there, Halt. Gosh." Will said, irritated at having been interrupted. Zip ."Anyways, I was in my room and I was bored, but then an apparition appeared to me and disclosed the location of an amazingly entertaining device, so I went to the location and found this bag of zip-ties! By the way, you should really clean out that drawer in your room. There are spiders in there!" Zip.
Halt closed his eyes. "This is why I hate having apprentices. They're always…doing things like this."
"It isn't healthy to talk to yourself, Halt." Zip.
"Will, what do I generally keep in that drawer?"
Will thought about it. "Usually stuff that's semi-important; documents…documents…um…usually you just keep important documents in there. And zip-ties!" Zip.
"Okay, so, don't you think that maybe I put those zip-ties in there because, maybe they're important?"
"Well…I dunno." Will said after a pause. Zip.
Halt suddenly noticed something. "Will…Have you been playing with those things for this entire conversation?"
"Well…Yeah. They're so cool!" Zip.
Halt grumbled something to himself, then grabbed the zip-tie that Will had just used. Then he took a pair of scissors and cut it open.
Halt handed the now open zip-tie back to Will. "There you go, unlimited…Whatever you were doing."
Will gasped. "Thank you Halt!" Zip. Zip. Zip. Zip.
Halt closed his eyes as he left the room. Why do I always get the completely messed-up apprentices?
So there you have it!
Also, I now have glasses. Before I had them I never realized how awful my vision is...
