It came as a shock to everyone, Keith, good, virtuous, sweet, yet unlucky Keith lay on the ground, bleeding to death with a bullet in his chest, the victim of a mugging gone horribly, horribly wrong. B could only sit there in shock as tears fell like rain from her blue-grey eyes as she gripped Keith's hand, his head in her lap. Only moments before he was his usual sweet, lively, self…

He had taken B out to the movies, and just as the credits began to roll across the screen, he led her outside, whispering sweet nothings in her ear.

"B, I-I gots an important question ta ask ya," he said, but that's where it all went wrong…

"Don't move!" A masked man yelled out as he approached them, the familiar click of a gun was heard as he pulled the concealed weapon from his jacket and snatching B by the arm before she had a chance to react. "Now give me all your money and valuables," he demanded, placing the cold barrel of the pistol to B's temple. "Or she gets it." He added with a hiss.

As ordered Keith emptied his pockets, handing the man his wallet, watch, and the little velvet box that contained the diamond ring that he was about to present to his love.

"Thank ya kindly, now I'll just be goin'" the masked man sneered, beginning to walk away, still dragging B with him.

"Let her go!" Keith snarled back at him.

"Hmm…nah." The robber replied.

Without another thought Keith charged at the man, a few seconds of struggling later a loud, single shot rang out, and the the red-haired hick fell to the ground as the crook ran off.

"Keith!" B gasped, shaking him slightly, the lights of the ambulance could be seen from over the next hill, they were coming, Keith was going to be fine…he always was.

"I-I l-love…you…B" Keith coughed, falling limply against her as the ambulance pulled up and began trying to revive him, but it was too late…the legendary Keith Marshall was no more.

"It should've been me," she whispered, kissing his cold, lifeless lips one last time. "It should've been me."
