Secret Promise
{ 04 September 2009 } Written for InuRomp. Prompt: "Peek."
She's all ivory and unblemished skin, glowing perfection in her naked glory. From the shadows, like all that is dirty, tainted, filth–like the beast that is upon her, spilling ink by way of curling, greasing hair–I watch her, unable to look away, spellbound by every movement and sharp intake of her breath.
It never registers that this is wrong, or that I've got no right to watch her like this. She who took me off the streets years ago, pleading and exchanging promises with a baboon-like husband who saw me then, a mere nine year old, as a threat to his control; she who reminded me so much of the other woman–the nameless one, whose face still haunts me in the dark of the night; She whose crimson eyes promised salvation; who opened her arms and welcomed me freely, and who tried to scrub me clean of my grime and taint.
Instead, I wonder what it would feel like to hold her, love her, caress her, to bring her to the end her husband always seems to miss. I fantasize her nails in my back, her hair mingling with my own, and the sound of my name as she screams from deep within her throat:
Kohaku.
Kohaku.
Her lips would twist into a smile as all that she desires when the sleeping monster lies comes to be in my too young, but ready embrace, when she has the freedom she so longs for; when she is truly like the wind.
"Someday, Kagura," I whisper in a promise.
