Everybody thought he was always cold.

Half of Scotland Yard hated him and the other half thought him an arrogant twat.

It wasn't his fault. He needed to prove himself, show he was worthy to be alive.

Mummy had loved him, but she died just after he turned twenty, and Father barley wanted anything to do with his 'freaky' son. He knew his brother had surveillance put on him straight after his first run in with drugs and the police. He guy who had caught him rang his Government leading brother.

It wasn't true what they thought though.

He was never this cold when he was a child, only he and Mycroft knew that. He, Sherlock, was only half complete and would more than likely stay that way until he died.

She had always been there for him, for both her brothers. They needed her, she was the glue that stuck them together because without her…they were nothing. The reason Sherlock was only half complete was because she was the other half of him, his twin. Her name was Evangeline Holmes, She died when they were fifteen. Both teens had been doing drugs and, unfortunately, she had gotten the bad pill. Sherlock had blamed himself for it all. Mycroft had told his little brother that Evangeline would have never wanted her twin to be sad, to blame himself for their drug use. But Mycroft had obviously been disappointed in his brother and Sherlock could see it.

Sherlock soon got an idea after Mummy died:

'Everybody I love either dies or hates me.'

And that was how it all started, how he became the icy cold 'freak' that he had been labelled by his colleagues from Scotland Yard. Apart from Lestrade. Lestrade was the guy that had found the young future detective all those years ago, crying over the body of Sherlock's freshly deceased sister.

But Sherlock wasn't the only one frozen into an ice man. Mycroft had become detached, not as detached as Sherlock mind you, but detached all the same. He worried more and more about Sherlock, he knew it was what his sister would have wanted. Before John but after Evangeline, Sherlock was nothing. When Sherlock met John,. he was reminded of Evangeline's kindness, her compassion however…

And Sherlock Holmes felt almost complete again.
