Hi,
I have been thinking how Lily and Soo-won's interactions may look after all that happened recently in the manga. Since I cannot use it for my main story about Soo-won/Lily I am adding it as a one-shot.
Lily came to Soo-won's tent. She could barely hold her anger looking at this slim reading figure.
'Why? How can you do this?' Lily asked Soo-won with raised voice and without waiting for Soo-won to let her speak. She knew she should not do it, but she didn't care. She couldn't care anymore.
'There was no other choice,' he replied without flinching or looking at her.
This peacefulness of his had angered her. She hadn't feel such anger for a long time. She looked at Soo-won and came closer, not knowing why. She could only feel this desire to shake this peacefully sitting figure that refused to look her in the eyes.
'No other choice. I cannot believe it,' she said almost shouting. 'And I thought…' She started, but before she could finish Soo-won rose and swiftly put his hand on her mouth to prevent her from speaking further. After a short moment, she could hear him whispered into her ear. 'You don't understand. People who supported me consider it a grave mistake that I let her live. If I don't start to chase her again, there is no telling what they will do. If I refused to chase her, they would have done it anyway and they may have even tried to kill me.'
On hearing this words Lily freed herself from him forcibly and whispered back angrily. 'So this it. You just want to save your skin.'
She could see Soo-won looking at her with sad eyes. It was unexpected. It took her aback. 'You may believe me or not,' she could hear Soo-won's calm voice. 'But my skin means very little to me right now.' He stopped as if thinking about something. She could see his eyes narrowing. 'Right now, this country is on the verge of war with Kai empire. I cannot die. Not now when everything I have built may be destroyed.'
'The war with Kai,' Lily repeated with disbelief. 'How come?'
'They noticed the Sky tribe army that I sent to the Fire Tribe after the beacon was lit. They have sent a letter demanding explanation for now, but...'
'Can't we just tell them it is a misunderstanding?'
Soo-won shook his head and handed her the latter he was keeping in his hand all this time. 'I will try, but it will be difficult and it is unlikely they will buy it,' He went on explaining, but Lily could hardly hear his words. She read the letter and after finishing, shaken she tried to return the letter.
'I have to tell her. I don't think Yona intended it,' Lily whispered hoping that the experience of last few hours was just a nightmare. She did not want to believe it that Yona is being chased by Kouka's soldier. She didn't want to believe that Kai is close to attacking, but she was unable not to believe. So much had happened, she felt that she could believe almost anything now.
Soo-won cast a quick look at her while taking up the letter that had fallen down. 'Now it doesn't matter if she meant it or not. Kai will interpret it as an attempt to attack them. This is why. This is why I will not let Yona to take revenge now. I will not let anyone to destroy this country, not even her.'
Lily looked at him with wide eyes and uttered no word.
'You will go to her, will you not?' He asked, but he didn't wait for the reply. 'You can tell her what I just told you that she can come and take my life after I clean up this mess, but until then I will not allow her kill me. Until then, if she makes any more moves that will endanger the safety of this country, I will not let it pass. Do you understand?'
Soo-won looked at this petrified figure and leaned towards Lily one more time. 'You should better go. I will give you one piece of advice,' she could hear him telling it in an unexpectedly warm way. 'Don't tell anyone that you are leaving and most importantly when and where you are going.'
