Hey guys! I decided to write yet another story! This won't replace Grouptale, but will probably be done before Grouptale!
Anyways, this is based off of the fangame Undertale Yellow, but it will be the full game and with the Green human soul! And of course my own little twist ;D!
Special shoutout to CharaAndBlue! She created Sam and plays him and Toriel throughout this chapter! This was fun to write, so enjoy!
UNDERTALE GREEN
"You awake?" The brunette opened her eyes and looked up at the pale colored ghost,
"I am now."
"Sorry to wake you," The ghost apologized, "But I must ask, why have you not left the Ruins yet?"
"I... don't know..." She admitted, sitting up and folding her hands on her lap, "I don't really want to leave, Sam..."
The ghost, now known as Sam, adjusted his glasses, "We have discussed this. If you don't leave now, you will never make it home."
"Maybe... maybe it's best if I'm not home. At least here people like me. The monsters in the Ruins like me. But... why should I go back to the true monsters of this world... when I can just stay here..."
Sam didn't want to think of the inevitable. It was only a matter of time before the fifth soul needed was collected and contained into a coffin just like the other four fallen humans; however, he didn't want her to not try and leave... to just stay there forever...
"Fine. You don't have to follow me anymore. But I don't want to leave. At least I'm accepted here. At least I'm-"
"They. Will. Find. You." Sam's voice was sharp and bitter, but he didn't feel it was right to hold back from saying it anymore, "It does not matter how much you try to run and hide from all of your problems. You still have to face them, and as much as it sucks, you know what I am saying is true, you know it-"
"Goodnight, Sam." She covered her ears with the pillow and he sighed resignedly. She then looked up, realizing what she had said wasn't fair, and it was best for her to apologize, but he was already gone.
Maybe it would get better in the morning...
Lily stumbled to her feet, rubbing at her eyes. Sleep was still thick in her eyes, and it caused her vision to be blurry.
"A good night's sleep, I presume?" The ghost's usually black hair was combed neatly to both sides, she observed, as he loomed above her.
"Something like that..." She nodded slowly, undoing her braid before brushing her fingers through her hair.
"What's the matter?" He inquired, floating down next to her.
"I remembered something. Something... unsettling..." Her voice strained a little as she spoke.
"What's that?" He inquired.
At first she didn't answer his query. But then she was shaking for a moment, "I remember stepping downstairs from my room... they told me to stay there... but I walked downstairs... don't know how old I was... but... I approached the table... before I could find out anything else... I woke up."
Sam didn't reply to what she said for a moment, "Intriguing..."
Lily sighed, putting her hair back into a braid and walking out the door. Toriel was in the kitchen, baking a pie.
"Hi, Mom." Lily shoved her hands into her pockets, looking over at the mantel and at the five photo frames.
She turned, the smell of pie filling the kitchen,
"Hello, my child, you are up early." She remarked. Her white coat was shiny as ever.
"Yeah, I am." Lily nodded with a small smile, "You made pie again!"
"Of course, my child. Would you like some?" Her eyes were warm and gentle, which showed she clearly cared for the humans who had fallen.
"If you'd let me." She grinned wide enough to show some of her pearly white teeth.
She smiled warmly, "I will bring it over, please sit down." She said, walking into the kitchen to get a plate.
Lily sat down in one of the chairs, taking a moment to shift her gaze up to Sam. Sam looked back down at her, his gaze cold. Lily flinched a little. He obviously wanted her to move forward, but she didn't want to. Sam had made it clear that he wasn't going to push her, but he wasn't going to praise her for not moving forward either. Toriel came out with the warm pie on a plate.
"Thanks, Mom..." She stared at it as she got lost deeper into her thoughts. Her mind flickered. The light blue soul leaving. The orange soul leaving. The dark blue one leaving. The purple one leaving. It... was destiny. But Lily refused to leave right then. It wasn't certain, right?
"You are very welcome, my child." Toriel nodded at her and went to go read a book as Sam watched her quietly.
"Are you... sure... I'll be a hundred percent safe if I leave here?" She finally questioned under her breath.
"I cannot guarantee, but I will do my best to keep you safe." He said in his usual monotone tone.
"How would you do that? You're dead..." She sounded uncertain, her gaze flicked to where Toriel was sitting.
"You underestimate me." He commented flatly.
"Perhaps I do." She nodded, as if she herself agreed with the statement. Sam went quiet again, as if it wasn't worth his time to argue with her.
After some thought, she pushed her chair out and got to her feet, "Mom, I'm going to check for another human... I'll do it today..."
"Alright, of course, my child. Come back for dinner." She requested, sparing a moment to grin at her.
"I will, don't worry." She opened the door and walked outside. Sam drifted close behind her. She greeted the monsters as she walked by. They returned the gesture with a smile.
He watched them all, carefully studying each of them. She got to the golden flowers. Her memory flickered from what had happened a few weeks ago...
"What's going on? Where am I?" Lily whispered out loud, her voice soft, yet filled with an immense amount of fear. She got no reply as the ghost loomed in the shadows. He knew very well he wasn't visible to her. But he still watched her.
She stumbled to her feet. Her eyes darted around the room. She started walking towards the doorway and into the next room. A golden flower popped out of the ground in front of her. Lily squeaked and took a step back from him.
"Well, another human." The flowed fluffed his petals.
"Who are you? What do you want?" She was awfully afraid of him.
"I'm Flowey, and I guess I could help you."
"H-Help me with what?!" She squealed.
"Help you survive the underground!"
"Just listen to him." The ghost broke through whatever thing was keeping her from seeing him, "He's telling the truth."
Lily practically shrieked. The ghost cleaned his glasses before placing them back on his face.
"Who are you?" She took another twenty steps back.
"I am Sam." He introduced calmly.
"I-I'm... I'm... Lily..." She replied, trying to stay calm herself.
As Sam nodded, Flowey continued, "Anyways, I'm here to show you how the Underground works! HP? It stands for 'health points.' LV, it stands for 'level of violence.' And XP? It stands for 'execution points.' The more XP you gain, the more LV you'll have. Make sense?"
Lily slowly nodded, recording this in her brain.
A few bullets appeared, "See these bullets? They'll knock down your HP in no time. Make sure to dodge them!" He sent them flying at her. She dodged out of the way.
"Great work!" He kept the same smile on his face.
"O-Oh... thanks!" She forced a small grin, at the least.
"That's how the Underground will be working, so make sure to remember what I just showed you! But, it's up to you if you want to show MERCY or FIGHT any monster in your path, Alright? Just remember your old friend Flowey will be here to guide you!"
"Thanks... thanks for the help..." She told him quietly.
"Of course!" He popped back into the ground and out of sight.
The ghost crossed his arms. "So." He shifted his gaze to the living human.
"S-So what?" She clasped her hands together.
"Let us move forward." He answered simply.
"O-Of course...!" She still didn't know this person very well, or what happened to him, but she knew she was in for a long journey, that was for sure.
Her mind drifted away from the memory and back to reality.
Sam watched her. "So."
"So what?" She placed her hands on her hips, pursing her lips.
"Are you planning to continue. Or not." He was straight to the point.
"Aren't you proof that moving on will kill me?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Everyone lasted until the king." He reminded her.
"Then what? I die, letting my soul be collected with the other four?" She wasn't sure if she was ready for this.
"I think you can survive."
"Is that... meant to be a compliment?" She softened a little. Humans rarely had showed her any encouragement about anything.
"It is." He nodded her head, holding his notebook closer to his chest.
"Because... people told me I'd die down here... I remember..."
"Well, I think you will be just fine." He reassured, his voice emotionless.
"T-Thanks... I'll think about it... I promise..." She looked a little bit uneasy.
He nodded, and she then asked softly, "What was your family like? Mine loved me... I know that..."
He looked away from her. "Mine... wasn't the best."
"If you don't mind me asking... why not?" She wanted to place a hand on his shoulder, but it couldn't happen if he was a ghost and she was a human.
"...well... they destroyed my stuff for one." He didn't speak very loudly.
"They did...? Why? Didn't they care for you? Even a little?" Her voice prickled a little with concern.
"They cared about my knowledge." He answered simply.
"But that's good! R-Right?"
"No. That's all they wanted out of me." He grimaced, but awaited her reply.
Her expression hardened, "So... you've never... had a motherly or fatherly figure? Is that what I'm getting out of this?"
"I guess you could say that."
"I'm... sorry..." Her voice was sympathetic. She never wanted to be in a position he was in.
"It's not a problem." He just told her simply.
"Here I am being selfish and not respecting my life on the surface... but you had it worse then me..." She felt terrible knowing how she had fallen was for a worse and totally petty reason.
"It's fine. It doesn't matter." He told her slowly.
"But it does matter!" Lily insisted, her eyes glinting, "You should've gotten out of here! You should've lived! I don't deserve to live!"
"You deserve to live. Everyone does."
"That means you do too! And so do the other souls! Even if I do make it out of here, I'll feel guilty. After all, there's no way to save you... so I could show you how real parents act... right?"
"They won't change. I wouldn't even go near them." He said sharply.
"But... what about Toriel... would you have wanted her to be your mom?"
"I do not know. I do not know what having a mom truly feels like." He stated timidly.
"How long were you in the Ruins, Sam?" She managed to placate herself.
"...2 or 3 days." Was his reply after a moment of thought.
"Is that how long you stayed with Toriel before leaving?" She questioned slowly, and he nodded in answer, "Did you interact with her very much?" She continued curiously.
"No, not really."
She decided to not question him further, "I understand." She began to walk home. They made it home. After a few more hours, Lily finally fell asleep peacefully. Sam, seeing his work was done, disappeared until she was next awake, but she had Toriel to check on her periodically through the night.
And by the next morning, Lily had finally made her decision.
