See you sitting next to the window in the bedroom

Crying over something and staring into nothing

It was late at night. It had been two days since the destruction of sanctuary and Brennan couldn't sleep so he took a walk around the apartment they were staying in. He heard Lexa and Jesse's steady breathing when he went past there rooms but when he went by Shalimar's room he thought he heard something, it sounded like crying. He opened the door and saw her sitting on the edge of the bed with her head in her hands and she was crying.
"Shal what's wrong, are you all right" he asked sitting down next to her and rubbing her shoulder
Shalimar shakes her head "n-no, they're gone aren't they, they're all gone"
"Who's gone?" he asks taking her in his arms
"Everyone, Richard, Nikki, Emma, Adam, my dad, all of them, they're all dead"
Brennan didn't know what to say, he never really saw Shalimar grieve for anyone and now she just couldn't hold it in any more.
"It's ok shal I miss, Emma and Adam to"

"Please don't leave me," Shalimar pleads
"I won't Shal, I won't ever leave you"
Fade in and out of reason to fight the way she's feeling
She breaks down (breaks down)
Going through the motions and holding on to hopes

They sat there for a few minutes, while Brennan let Shal cry in his arms. When her sobs died down he asked, "You ok now"
Shalimar sniffed and nodded "I'm sorry"
"Why, Adam was like your father, and Emma, she was all our sister. There is nothing wrong with missing them"
"I know, but I still feel guilty for dumping everything on you. But thanks" Shalimar said lifting her head to smile through red puffy eyes. They sat in silence for a few minutes until Shalimar asked "will you stay with me tonight, please"
"Yeah of course"

Brennan lay down next to Shalimar and covered her with the blanket.
"Promise you won't go" Shalimar said pulling Brennan close.
"I promise" he reassured "I love you Shal"
"Really" she said smiling into his shoulder.
"Yeah"
"I love you to Brennan"

They stayed in each other's arms the whole night. And Brennan kept his promise and never left her, ever.
