Disclaimer- I am not JK Rowling so I don't make money for writing this. Duh.
Written for Acciomischief's 'Awkward Christmas Gift' challange! My pairing was Herrmione and Draco and the gift was a bikini-waxing kit!
(A/n)- Well, here's another one-shot by me! The first one in awhile. I hope it's okay! This would be set around fifth or sixth year, and please just ignore the fact that Hermione's not at Hogwarts during Christmas either of those years. This turned out pretty drabbly but I kind of like it... Well, enjoy!
"Granger."
The voice behind her was cool and unfortunately very familiar. Hermione took a deep breath and turned around to find herself face-to-face with none other than Draco Malfoy. She wasn't sure what she expected to see when she faced him, maybe his cool eyes jeering as he thought of another jibe to throw at her, or even him delivering some message from one of the teachers. What she didn't expect was his grey eyes to be wide and modest -almost scared looking- and holding a decent-sized Christmas present in front of him. Draco was looking down.
"Yes, Malfoy?" Hermione said particularely bravely, looking at him and making her Prefect's badge more visible by instinct.
"This is for you," he said after looking up, shoving the package to Hermione.
Hermione was puzzled. This certainly couldn't be from Draco Malfoy! Or could it? She'd always had the firm belief that he could change his ways and the only time she really lost patience with him was in third year when he tried to get Hagrid sacked. Still, this was... unexpected. Almost unbelievable.
"Open it," Draco urged, speaking up a bit. He looked down again when Hermione turned her quizzical gaze to him. Feeling faintly suspicious, Hermione started taking off the wrappings. Once the present was finally uncovered she found a... a bikini-waxing kit. Draco suddenly burst out laughing. "You... really... thought I was really going to give you a good Christmas present, Granger?" he gasped between sniggers. "Yeah right! I'd sooner give up my Nimbus Two Thousand and One!"
Hermione was shocked, although she knew she shouldn't be. Just for a minute -just for a small second- she'd though... but no, Draco was never going to change. She should know that by now. For a few seconds, Hermione stared at her 'gift' until she narrowed her eyes and looked up at Draco instead. "What's the point of this, then?" she asked coldly.
"It was funny," Draco replied simply, shrugging.
Funny? Draco thought that giving Hermione a bikini-waxing kit was somehow funny, yet she couldn't find a spark of humor in it. How in Merlin's name was that funny? Hermione wasn't sure what to retort next, so she just turned her heel and stalked away. Probably the best thing to do.
"You really should use it, you know!" Draco hollered after her. "You never know when it's going to come in handy!"
As she walked farther down the corridor, Hermione couldn't help but smile.
(A/n)- Yeah, that's my entry. Reviews are love!
