Ginny Weasley appeared to everyone as a perfect girl. Born into a prominent though rather poor family, she was raised the "Weasley Way." Sheltered by her family, she was an innocent, if not naïve girl. Living with six brother who mercilessly teased her everyday caused her to be meek, without even a hint of boldness.
That all changed when she met Tom.
Tom planted a seed in her heart, one that took root quickly and could not be removed without damaging her very soul. The seed soon sprouted and bloom into something wild, exotic, and perhaps even dangerous. The change was gradual but noticeable; she held herself higher, spoke with more confidence, and became more and more daring. More and more away from the quiet, obscure role as the Chosen One's Wife.
During this time, Ginny began to place more trust in Tom. He was the only one who actually listened to her, without brushing her aside or looking down on her. Talking to Tom was the highlight of her day; school was boring, she didn't have any friends, and she couldn't play quidditch. Tom made her laugh. He tutored her when she fell behind in Transfiguration, and he took her back into his memories. Tom knew what Ginny was thinking, and Ginny knew what Tom was thinking. You could almost call them… soulmates.
They made plans to rule the world. He would rise as the Dark Lord again, after conquering his other self. Ginny would be by his side as his Dark Lady. Together, they would be unstoppable. Their first step was to get rid of Harry Potter. It was a brilliant plan, crafted by Tom. He was a true genius, though Ginny would brag about how it was her idea to paint the walls and slip the page about basilisk and pipes into the Mudblood's hand. Tom was brilliant. Ginny understood people and was smart. They make a perfect team.
It was all going according to plan when Dumb Old Door's damn bird showed up with the stupid hat. Tom's weakness was that he always wanted a dramatic showdown. The whole thing ended up backfiring, and everything was gone, gone, gone. Harry Potter the Savior drew a sword and killed the basilisk while getting stabbed, but he lived because some scruffy old bird cried on him. Ginny Weasley had to act like a damsel in distress and pretend to be grateful while inside she was seething with rage that he had killed her Tom. The once-lively, wild, exotic, and dangerous flower was pulled from her and she became like an empty shell. She was nothing without Tom. Her heart and soul were shattered, and – "How 'bout a cup of hot chocolate?" As if that would help. Only one person had understood, and he was gone forever.
Ginny accioed the diary out of Lucius Malfoy's hand when he was leaving Hogwarts. The book was already in tatters, and ink was continuously dripping out. Ginny desperately tried writing in the diary, but it was no use. He was gone, gone, gone. The book no longer had the mysterious, captivating energy she felt when she first held it. It was an empty shell, just like herself.
Ginny buried the diary under a yew tree in Hogwarts grounds. Yew for his wand, and Hogwarts because it was his only home. She poured pumpkin juice over the freshly turned soil, along with a bag of Honeydukes' best marshmallow chocolate. Ginny levitated a boulder and inscribed the words just as Tom had taught her; with a twirl of the wand and flick of the wrist. Ginny swallowed a sob. Tom would be proud of her.
