This is something I wrote a couple years ago for EruHan week on Tumblr under the theme of "touch". Hope you like!

Erwin couldn't help but stare at the sleeping figure in his bed as he stood at the doorway. For a moment he thought about how much Hanji meant to him. All this time they have known each other, from when she first entered the Survey Corps, all the expeditions they have been through together, and now. Was it only that Hanji was an amazing, brilliant soldier that was able to survive this long by his side? Even after becoming a commander, after making it known to all his soldiers under him that they are to be sacrificed at will, it's impressive that Hanji was able to survive thus far. Or could it be that he always had a soft spot for her…that she survived? Either way, it didn't matter, he thought. What matter was now, that fact that she is here. That fact that she was sleeping in his bed. The fact that she's currently carrying his unborn child now. It didn't matter anymore. All that matter now was that he was determined to protect humanity along with Hanji and their child. Everything else could be sacrificed, except for her.

Hanji stood in front of a mirror trying to notice the changing shape in her body. After turning around and examining every angle of her reflection, she slowly placed her hands on top of her abdomen. Without her even noticing, another hand placed themselves on top of hers. Startled, she turned her head to look up at the figure holding her from behind.

"Should you really walk around in your cloak like that all day?" Erwin smiled as he leaned his mouth closer to her left ear. "People are going to start wondering what you are hiding under there." She quickly spun around to face him as his one hand caressed the small of her back.

"I know, but, I'm starting to show, I think, "her voice trailed off as she looked back down to her hands, still placed on her abdomen. "I don't want anyone to notice. At least, not yet. Besides, we still have a lot of planning to do for the next expedition and –"

"Which you will not be a part of," Erwin said sternly. It wasn't that long ago Erwin got wind of Hanji's possible pregnancy from Levi (who got wind of this information from Moblit) during an expedition about a month or so ago.

"Right, I know that!" Hanji retorted as her eyes met his. "But I still want to help in any way I can." After briefly thinking about putting an unborn child at risk during an expedition, especially without even knowing for sure like in the last expedition, she buried her head into Erwin's chest. It was pretty official now that she's having the commander's baby.

"It's okay Hanji. You've already done so much. You have nothing to prove." Erwin tried to reassure Hanji with his one arm wrapped around her and kissing the top of her head. After all, Hanji was walking around in her uniform and green cloak covering her upper body all day, standing out from everyone on the base. She didn't want anyone telling her she needed to leave or feeling as though she can't give orders in her current condition.

"Besides, we need to talk about you taking a break for a while."

Hanji's head shot back up to look at Erwin in surprise.

"A break? But why? I can still do some of my research from here. And I can still help you strategize! Don't put me out of commission yet, commander," Hanji smirked.

Ideally, Erwin would want Hanji to leave the Survey Corps completely especially after given birth. He imagined having her stay in Sina at his old family home where she could continue to document and compile all the information she has collected about Titans while raising their child. But she would never agree to that…
