So, this has been on my mind for months. I need to get it out of my head before I lose my sanity. Anyway, this story takes place 50 years after the events of Gen 7 (I'm not going to force USUM as canon vs SM, but the Pokémon in USUM are, if that makes any sense). I'll try my best. Alas, I talk too much. Enjoy the story! Also no, I don't own Pokémon, thanks.
Never thought I'd make it this far, thought Atlas as he gazed out over Castelia City. His office was perched on top of the new Cosimo building, which actually wasn't that large compared to the other skyscrapers that loomed in front of him. But it made him feel powerful, and powerful he was. Atlas was a code name earned via his rank. His true name was Chris, but now that he was in charge of the operations in Unova nobody dared call him that, in fear of punishment. Calling a commanding officer by their real name was thought to be a show of disrespect, and in this organization, respect was everything.
As Atlas was basking in the light glinting off the many windows that filled his view, he remembered his one main job and started demanding reports from his inferiors. You see, his main goal was to locate and capture a beast not seen in years. Two of them, actually. The personification of Truth and Ideals, Reshiram and Zekrom respectively. Kyurem wasn't a necessary capture, but Atlas would receive further promotions if he got all three. The same was true for officers in other regions: find and catch the legendary beasts within. So far, no luck even seeing one.
Until today. Atlas was surprised to find that Sergeant Nymphus had reported in a possible sighting. "We saw a massive thundercloud overhead," Nymphus said, "but we thought nothing of it until it vaporized two of our transports with a single lightning strike. Permission to pursue?" "Of course you can, dammit!" Atlas barked, "That's your one job! Capture it and we can use it to lure the other to Dragonspiral, or at least what's left of it." "Over and out, sir." said Nymphus as the transmission faded. Atlas leaned back in the chair and smiled. May our luck finally turn around.
