Disclaimer- I do not own Twilight, Wicked Lovely, Or any other references made in this story..

A/N- This is a cross between Wicked Lovely and Twilight. It will obviously be quite different, it's just the basic ideas of WL, substituted with Twilight characters, if that makes sense..?
A lot of the prologue will be taken from the book, but changed a bit. Anyway, you might just want to read it :)
One more thing... I can assure you that THE OTHER CHAPTERS will not have as much dialogue (or plots etc.) copied from the book. So, really this was just to see if people would actually read this or not ... Ok then, proceed...

The summer king knelt before her, his peers standing behind him.

"Is this what you freely choose, to risk winter's chill?"

The teenage girl watched him, her gaze focused solely on his beautiful emerald eyes. Although her eyes were steady, her heart wasn't, and somehow she thought he could sense that.
Was she willing to risk everything for him? Did she want to make this huge decision that could change her life forever, with no chance to go back and reverse it all?

Reluctantly, she nodded, her voice unable to break through the nervousness she was feeling. Maybe, one day, if this didn't work, she would eventually find happiness somewhere else. Her mind was telling her not to risk everything for some boy, but her heart was screaming at her to take a chance. Her life had been boring, and this was a sure way to change all that. In fact, her life would never be the same again.

"Do you understand that if you are the one, you'll carry the Winter Queen's chill until the next mortal risks this? And you'll warn her not to trust me?" he paused glancing at her quivering frame with pain in his eyes.

Again, she nodded.

"If she refuses me, you will tell the next girl and the next"- he slowly crept forward-"and not until one accepts will you be free of the cold."

"I really do understand." The girl smiled as reassuringly as she could, and then walked over to the hawthorn bush. The leaves brushed her arms as she bent down and reached under it. Her fingers wrapped around the Winter Queen's staff. It was an old, worn thing. No doubt numerous lives had been ruined by it, but she still let the shred of hope left inside her believe.

Behind her, the beautiful boy moved closer. The silence grew deafening, all sound waiting for this one move to be made.

"Please, please, let her be the one..." he whispered, expectancy lurking in the air.

She held the Winter Queen's staff- and hoped, until she thought the anticipation was going to kill her nearly immortal soul.

For one excruciatingly long moment, she even believed it was her, but then ice pierced her, burning her veins and filling them with what felt like tiny shards of glass.

She screamed his name: "Edward!"

She stumbled towards him, but he walked away, hope leaving his saddened eyes.

Then, she was alone- with only a wolf for companionship- waiting to tell the next girl what a lie it would be to trust him, what it would be like to love him.
