I had never thought about the day I would die until today. My messy black hair waved in the wind as I hopped on the train to get back to New York after visiting my girlfriend in San Francisco. The doors slammed shut and off we went hurtling towards the worst (but equally the best) day of my life.
I could hear the choppy, white, ferocious sea below us. Dark grey clouds, which were usually as fluffy as a marshmallow, filled the sky as we crept forwards on the rickety, rusty old track. Suddenly the brakes screamed as we were forcefully brought to a stop. The sea, which is a lion feeding on its prey, crashed against the side of the train throwing me to the cold, hard, sticky floor. The bright white lights flickered until they went out leaving us in a darkness that was as dark as a black hole. Silence. Then all at once we were thrown around the train again and people started screaming at the top of their lungs. I joined in too and together we could have shook a mountain. Thoughts of Annabeth flooded into my mind as I continued screaming. What was I supposed to do? How else could I expect people to find us?
As we were thrown towards each other again I saw a blinding white light. This is it. My last time on Earth. Death is getting closer. However I was completely wrong. The door to the train had opened and I was about to jump through when I heard a little girl screaming. I turned towards the noise and saw a girl with blonde hair and sea green eyes. She looked exactly like how I would imagine mine and Annabeth's child to look like. I swam towards her and tried to get her free from the pole which had fallen on top of her legs. In her eyes I saw desperation, hope and fear that I would not be able to save her. The look I gave her was supposed to be one of hope as I dived down a bit further and tried to free her. My fingers wrapped around the cold, metal pole and I tried to lift it through the ever rising water. It groaned and creaked but I managed to lift the pole off her legs just a bit so that she can escape. I grabbed the girl's hands and together we swam through the door which had opened earlier. The smell of sea air was overwhelming but I knew that we had to get to safety. Once on safe ground we turned around and watched as the train got slowly pulled into the ocean. Splash.
The sea engulfed the train and as the sun started to make an appearance a rainbow formed. Red, orange, yellow, indigo, violet and green filled the sky. It was magnificent until I realised that we were the only survivors. With a heavy heart I picked her up, turned around, and did what I do best… disappear.
AN: This was my first one shot so I hoped you liked it. In case you didn't notice it was all human. I was actually inspired by an English assessment I did where I got an A so I hope you liked it as much as my teacher did.
P.S.
Percy and Annabeth do adopt the child after he finds his way back to her house.
