Everyone was very excited as it was the annual sylvanain games. Zoe Barker was setting up her souvenir shop as she knew that people would want something to remind them of the day to come.
Abbie Keats and Poppy Dappledawn were practising their maypole dance ready for the two girls had been practising for weeks and weeks and were delighted when Eleanor Bramble offered to make their dresses for the special occasion.
It was 10 o'clock when the village bell rang to symbolise the start of the games. Everyone had taken their seats ready for the first event which was Athletics. Ron Barker and Jessica Buckley were up first competing in the hurdles. It was great to watch as both of them sprinted off the starting line leaping over the first hurdle and the second and the third. Then Ron broke free ahead of Jessica but she wasn't having any of it and she strode ahead of Ron. In the end Ron won the hurdles but not by much.
Next up was the gymnastics. Judy Darwin was taking part in this event. Gymnastics was all about skill and elegance. The judges wrote down lots of note very quickly while Judy performed a number of loops, jumps and spins. At the end the judges told her some of her strengths and weaknesses. Overall they thought she was very good!
Third was swimming. Bertie and Bella Patches, brother and sister, were taking part in this and both of them determined to beat the other. Bertie got a very strong lead ahead of Bella, she would never catch him up. Bertie crossed the line with flying colours, which left Bella straggling behind.
Last of all was the show jumping with Kirsty Hamilton riding Jester also Annabell Buttercup riding Dapple. So the jumping began. Both of the horses cleared every single fence, this meant it was all down to the times to decide who would win.
It had been a great day and everyone couldn't wait for the results. Ron Barker was awarded a gold medal as he came first in the hurdles and Jessica got a silver. The judges of the gymnastics had enjoyed Judy's performance therefore leaving her with a silver medal. Bertie got given a gold medal for his swimming which meant that Bella got a silver. Last of all Kirsty had been quickest in the show jumping so got a gold medal and a rosette for Jester.
The sylvanain games had come to a close as the sun set in the distance, telling everyone that it was time for bed. So that could dream all about next years games and for all its excitement!
