I was asleep. But not in a deep sleep. The sound of a soft click woke me up. The rain had almost drowned out the sound.

Almost.

I flew up to a sitting position to see my window open. The black shadow shook.

Turning on my lamp I saw who the figure was.

"Farkle?"

He had been in the rain. But the tears were burning on his face. He refused to move.

"Farkle get in here!" I commanded worriedly.

Farkle wordlessly crawled into my room from the window. I walked behind him shutting and locking it. Whatever happened we were in this room, safe.

I pulled a towel out of my drawer. He took it thankfully.

"What happened Farkle..."

"We aren't even peasants." He mumbled.

"What?"

"Some football jocks from school jumped me. I... I..."

Before he could continue I pulled him into a hug.

Farkle embraced this hug, he didnt want to let go.

"You are ok here buddy..." I smiled.

"I'm so weak..."

"Farkle if you say that ever again..."

"They threatened to take my clothes... And you know... A guy in the alley scared them off but Lucas, I cried! I cried over nothing!"

Farkle couldnt tell if Lucas' tears were real or if he was just playing along.

"Farkle, I'm so sorry... I wish I could have protected you..."

"You're crying..."

"Because I don't know what I would have done if something happened to you... Well I do know and it would be horrible."

They stood there a second.
Farkle's parents were out of town
So were Lucas'.

"Come on, you are staying here tonight..."

"Lucas..."

"I insist!"

Farkle reluctantly agreed.

Lucas went into his clothes drawer.

"Here you can change into these..."

Farkle happily excepted the stripped red shirt and the black soccer shorts.

He went into the bathroom to change when he got back Lucas was sitting in his bed off to the side.

Just to see how he would react Farkle said. "Ok... I will be out on the couch goodni..."

"Farkle..." Lucas glared at him.

Farkle felt himself shake. It was either a cold setting in from the rain or it was how hot Lucas' voice sounded when he said his name.

Farkle slowly crept into the other side of the full size bed.

"We will be ok Farkle..."
Lucas said as he settled his arm around him.

"How do you know?" Farkle asked as he mentally noted how warm Lucas was.

"We got each other..." Lucas smiled.

As Lucas tried to get closer to Farkle, Farkle jumped.

"Easy... You need to stay warm in order to not get sick..."

"Lemme guess you are as warm as a horse?"

Lucas let out a deep chuckle.

Farkle nodded and they came closer. Now in each others arms they fell asleep knowing they had each other to look after one another.

They may not be kings...
Or Peasants...
But they were Friends or more
