He never makes women's clothes. 'I don't have a muse', he says whenever anyone asks.
She isn't particularly fond of the conventional designs people ask her to wear. "They aren't very me," she says whenever anyone asks.
They meet at a fashion week and Annie finds herself wondering what his women's line would look like if he decides to design one. Little does she realize that he is staring at her and in his head he has designed three dresses and has ideas for five.
He asks her to dinner and they talk about many things. He is cancelling his third dress idea because her hair is that unique shade of red which just doesn't sit well with the pink taffeta.
She tells him her favourite colour is purple when he asks and wonders why he is staring at her so intently.
He cancels three more ideas when she says purple. Ideally green would look perfect on her but he needs to include something she would like.
Before they leave he asks her if she will model for him. She nods before remembering this is Finnick Odair. And he never designs women's clothes.
When Annie sees the dress he has designed for her, she just knows, it is hers.
The sea green of the dress offsets the red of her hair and gently has a gentle ombre into purple. It has a sweetheart neckline and the bodice is covered with silk flowers.
Finnick thinks she looks like a vision in his dress. He almost feels like telling her not to model the dress because it would mean other people get to see the beauty that is Annie. He feels silly after that because she is a renowned model and people know how beautiful she is. The way he imagined she'd look while designing the dress doesn't do her justice.
For the sake of another idea, he tells himself later, convincing himself that is why he invited her to dinner with him again.
