Another story about death. This one for our dear Strix Strummer. (I'm starting to sound like Otulissa). This is how I think she died.
Strix strummer led her brave Strix Strummer strikers against a small pure one rear guard unit protecting the fleeing vanguard. When they had slammed into the group they had all been separated aside from her and Otulissa.
It was very foggy so visibility was low and it made close quarters combat dangerous, but still the Strix Strummer strikers didn't back down.
Strix caught an attacking owl by the talons and threw him towards the sea of Hoolemere. He uttered a loud screech before being swallowed by a hungry wave. Beside her Otulissa jabbed her burning branch at a grass owl who was fencing with a small Pygmy owl. She swung her burning brunch at the owl causing it to duck.
This gave the pygmy owl an opening. He rushed forward and rammed his battle claws into its chest. The owl gave a startled screech before falling towards Hoolemere.
Suddenly out of nowhere a huge Tyto Alba appeared and made a bee-line straight for Strix. She attempted to avoid the blow but it was too late. The owl slammed into her its battle claws missing her by inches. Otulissa tried to come to her mentor's aid but was halted by another grass owl.
Strix separated from her opponent and they circled waiting for the other to make the first move. The Tyto made the first move. She lunged forward but Strix simply looped over her opponent. Suddenly the fog that surrounded them roiled thicker and strix lost sight of the owl. Then it cleared again and she saw the owl coming at her at break neck speed.
There was no time to move.
She felt the battle claws rip into her wing, practically sheering it off her body. She shrieked in pain.
Otulissa also shrieked but this was not a shriek of pain but of anger. "How dare they hurt Strix Strummer. My mentor." She thought and swiped the grass owl aside. The grass owl tumble before regaining altitide and fleeing with singed wing primaries.
She charged towards the Tyto Alba and swung her burning branch as hard as she could. The blow glanced off the Alba's face and she shrieked in pain as the feathers around her eyes were singed.
Suddenly Strix felt a surge of energy she gave one last almighty flap. As she rose she extended her battle claws and swung. She nicked the pure ones chest before her wings folded and she plummeted towards the sea of hoolemere. Otulissa plunged after her but it was to late. "Noooo" she cried.
The mighty strix strummer plunged into the Sea of Hoolemere to her final resting place
