Syrus glumly surveyed the fish staring back at him. They seemed just as depressed and trapped as he was.

He had originally gone to the new aquarium in the hopes of soothing his spirit, but instead found himself getting more and more drawn into the dark, secretive underworld that mirrored his own murky, unfathomable unconsciousness.

At least these fish don't have my problems. Fish are fish. They aren't people.

Their glassy stares gazed at him serenely. Emotionlessly.

How he wished he could swim amongst them.

It was quite a notion, wasn't it? Living as a fish. The aquarium could be a mini duel academy. Already, Syrus' nose was touching the glass as his thoughts switched gear and became more irrational and disjointed. Immediately, he could pick out the fish that represented him—a barely-there understated silver guppy.

Of course, Syrus the fish would be lonely, would he? As if answering his own psyche, a graceful scarlet-colored fish almost instantly appeared at its side.

Jaden.

A smile coaxed the sad boy's lips. This momentary distraction from the trauma that preoccupied his mind was good enough for him.
Languorously, Syrus, with the air of somebody who had all day to ponder, picked out more forms in the tank. That banana-yellow one with the protruding snout could be Tyranno. Syrus could just imagine the aquatic dweller trying to break apart the red and silver fish. Restlessly, it swam around while a sedentary starfish passively twitched its appendages. Something about its laid-back character reminded him of Bastion.

This is fun!

A fuchsia fish then darted into Syrus' line of sight. Chazz. Definitely. Always the non-conformist. And following after it was a graceful orange and white-striped clownfish that just literally cried Alexis' name. Although, he doubted the Obelisk Blue student would be impressed.

The gang's all here.

Syrus watched the unknowing fish that he had personally named go about their personal business. Quite frankly, it was beginning to soothe him. Soon, Syrus had completely forgotten what had so upset him. Until…

Suddenly, a metallic line zoomed past the plate of glass as the guppy that had so reminded Syrus of himself flitted for its life away from a sinister-looking black angelfish that had been hiding in a clump of dim seaweed—sequestered away from everyone else.

And, there's my brother.

A bit sick in the pit of his stomach, Syrus wiped away the salty water that was his tears as he turned away from the salty water that was contained inside the aquarium.

No matter where I go, or what I try to set my mind on…

...there he is.

Author's Note: Um…I have nothing to say on this fic. It was written during a black mood, and I just let my mind wander. Ah, the wonkiness.
