Envious Hate
There she was.
The living image of purity and beauty sitting just a few metres away from them, hands clasped in prayer and her chestnut-haired head bowed as she muttered meaningless words under her breath.
There she was.
The living image of her hatred and wrath sitting just a few metres away from them, treacherous smile lurking at the corner of her lips and her deceiving emerald eyes hidden behind her lids.
There was once a time, when Tifa would have called them friends but no longer. Not since she saw, what had happened on the night the keystone went missing.
The image of Aeris' arms around Cloud's neck, their lips connected in passion. And it was obvious from the moan he gave, that Cloud was enjoying the contact.
She could see it all so clearly because she could never let herself forget. She could still picture what happened after the couple had left Cait Sith. They had gone to the hotel and asked to have a separate room.
Her heart had been broken that night. Shattered like glass into a million pieces that she knew she could never glue back. Their spare room had been right next to hers and she had cried her soul out as the thin walls allowed her to hear Cloud's soft and shy words of endearment, Aeris' giggles and the passion of their love-making.
She felt betrayed by her best friend. Aeris knew how she felt about Cloud and she had moved in and taken him from her.
And now, here Tifa was, coming to the aid of the beautiful Cetra. To the aid of the woman who had stolen Cloud's heart. But Tifa wasn't here to help the flower-girl. No. She had a completely different reason for being here.
She felt her jacket pocket nervously, relieved when she felt the cool metal from within touching her skin. She glanced at her friends, who hadn't noticed her odd behaviour. She turned her head to see Cloud walking towards the edge of the platform and, fearing her plan to be ruined she raced forward and grabbed his shoulder.
"Let me go to her," The barmaid insisted with a small smile. The Soldier frowned and looked between the two girls, debating on what to do.
"I want to talk to her," He replied in his stubborn tone. Tifa smiled wider and gripped his shoulder comfortingly.
"But with your feelings for her, you may become out of control. You don't want a repeat of the Temple of the Ancients do you?" She asked with an arched eyebrow. By the way the blonde lowered his eyes, she knew the answer.
Without another thought, she hoped along the separated pillars until she reached the alter. Her soft footsteps were in contrast with the heavy beating of her heart as she took her place directly in front of the girl in pink, who opened her eyes and looked up at her with a small, confused frown.
"Tifa?" She asked in her angelic voice. Tifa smiled. But it wasn't a friendly smile. It was a sinistar, hating smile as she reached inside her pocket and brought out a dagger. Before the shocked girl could react, Tifa struck, stabbing Aeris through the heart, feeling the blood of the girl flow onto her.
As the light faded from the Cetra's eyes, the raven-haired girl leaned in to whisper.
"Now, Cloud will be mine,"
