What Would Have Been Done
--
I pulled on my black dress, and a black hat. My parents glanced at me questionably when For-chan and Sun-chan came to my door. I quickly ran out before they could ask, the tears streaming down my face. I didn't want to deal with them. I didn't want to deal with anyone…Sun-chan held me as I cried, all the way to the Magic World…and to their graves.
In the Magic World, it was raining.
As I approached their graves, I could feel the tears washing over me again. Two tombstones, both etched with their names. They had died of exhaustion…After the Magic Exam, they both fell unconscious. It was too late to save them…Even Will-sensei couldn't heal them.
They had both passed the exam before they had died. It wrenched my heart and fueled my tears. They had been pushed past the point of exhaustion…pushed pass the point of living. It was all my fault. It was all because of me…If I hadn't swallowed the Pearl in the first place…
I glanced at Sun. "Sun-chan…?"
Sun looked over at me, tears streaming down her face. If For was correct, this would be the second time she had cried in front of people. "Yes, Nina-chan?"
"Does the Magic World have a heaven?"
Sun blinked. "I think so…" Sun touched her chin with her small finger. "I'm sure that they would be there. I'm sure of it. Right, For-chan?"
For nodded. "There is a heaven. It is the same heaven that humans have."
"So…When I die, we'll be together, right?" I asked carefully.
"I'm sure of it, Nina-chan. You three spent so much time together, it would be a crime otherwise." For said.
I looked back at the tombstones, than I looked up at the sky. The rain had stopped, and the sun was peaking out of the shadows. I could feel myself warming up. I smiled at the sky. "So you two better wait for me." I said aloud. "Wait for me to come, too."
