The Raven

Ch.1 – Newcomer

He watched from the safety of the woods as more pale-faces got off a giant boat. Where they were all coming from, he had no idea. He was still upset that Pocahontas had chosen a foreign man over him when they had known each other longer, and yet it was still his job to look after the girl. Currently she was in the pale-face village waiting for a man named John Smith to get off the boat. But instead there was a man on a white horse. He watched as other pale-faces followed the strange man, apparently this one was important. When everyone turned to look at the boat he looked over to see a girl in white and red clothing slowly descend into the village. He noted that she carried a bow and quiver of arrows. This intrigued him as he watched everyone gasp at the site of this raven-haired woman. He felt himself stiffen as her head turned and she seemed to be staring right at him. Scoffing at the notion of a pale-face being able to tell where he was, he left.

"Perhaps this new world will be fun." Kagome thought as she ran a hand through her long black hair, her dark brown eyes shining in excitement. "Well, here goes nothing." She followed everyone off the boat, ignoring the sounds of awe coming from the suttlers' town. Instead she chose to observe the forest around her. Something drew her to a particular tree and she found herself meeting black eyes filled with hate. At first Kagome was startled , thinking it directed at her but settled into understanding when she saw a flicker of curiousity. He ended their staring contest by leave adruptly, causing her to think of Inuyasha, which saddened her.

"I do wish you would let us give you a horse, my Lady. One of your status should not have to walk." The ships captain walked beside her.

"I can walk alright by myself. Your concern is touching, thank you for bringing me here."

"It was my pleasure, after all, its not every day you have a priestess on board let alone one who volunteers to cook. I do hope you like it here, we're still working on the new town so there's a wall to keep us safe at night from animals and the natives. Some are friendly, but other not so much so please be careful."

"I will do my best, thank you Sabastian." She smiled at the captain before wandering around, making a mental map of the small town. After lunch time Kagome decided to take a walk outside the wall. The guards warned her of dangers but she waved them off with a smile before heading into the woods.

It was at the waterfall, where he found her sitting on the bank with her feet in the water, laughing. He wasn't sure why she was laughing, but the sound woke something in his mind. Quickly pushing it aside he snuck closer to find her playing with an otter. Lost, he merely stood there gaping. He must be going crazy, she was talking to it. How could that possibly be. He had gone back to the village and reported everything he had seen at the pale-faced village. The Elder had spoken up when he had talked about this strange female. Saying that she had to be brought to the village. This he didn't understand. Why would the Elder want this strange woman to see their village? And why was he the one appointed to bring her? He hated foreigners, all they did was bring destruction. But with the way the little otter was acting, this stranger seemed to be the opposite. The only problem beign that he had no idea how to go about handling this situation.
