"Kisaaaa!!! Kisaa!!"
"I'm over here!"
Kisa ran over to where Finlay was standing. Kisa was tall and thin, with shoulder-length blond hair. She had on a black shirt, with part of the top of the sleeves missing, so that the rest of the sleeves hung around her biceps. Her baggy navy blue breeches swished in the light wind that stirred up. Her bangs whisked over her light gray eyes as she looked up at Finlay.
"Everyone's waiting for you," he said.
"I know. I wanted to say goodbye," she waved her hand toward the cliff that overlooked the ocean.
"Well you're done now, so let's get a move-on."
They walked along in silence on the old path to the set of cabins the group lived in. Vines crawled up the sides, hiding some parts of the windows. Little gardens were neatly arranged at the front of two of the cabins. Thatched roofing covered the top of the curved roofs. Finlay walked to the nearest cabin and held open the door for her. Their eyes adjusted to the dark room. Everyone was there. The dark-haired twins, Bram and Brenna, Lennox, and sitting in the corner mashing herbs in a bowl sat Aveline, nicknamed Ava. There were woven baskets spread throughout the room, filled to the brim with possessions, food, and supplies. A large wolverine sat beside Lennox, with its head in his lap. Lennox quietly stroked its soft fur while it everyone looked up at Kisa and Finlay. Thunder rumbled in the distance as they took their seats in the circle of friends. The smell of damp earth and fresh herbs scented the air.
A black hawk swooped through the open window and alighted on Brenna's outstretched arm. It whistled softly as Brenna ran her hand across its glossy feathers. Kacey stretched her wings and hopped down onto a woven straw rug. Kacey walked over to the big wolverine and settled next to him. Uistean looked over and touched his nose to Kacey's beak and put his head back down.
"Alright, i suppose we should start,"Finlay declared. "There are battles going on between the pirates and the city peoples. The city people have hired ninja assasins to take out some of the pirate leaders. So we've got ninja coming in, also. So i opt for us to move down South."
"Why south? Couldn't we go east to Russia?" Kisa asked. "My family lives there, we could just stay with them."
"Alright, we'll take a vote. South or Russia. Show of hands for going south?" Finlay looked around the group. Bram flashed his hand. Lennox shrugged to show it didn't matter to him. Brenna and Kisa looked at him. Aveline continued to work her herbs into a pasty mush. "We go to Russia then."
Aveline covered her bowl with a cloth and placed it in her bag on top of her things. The group gathered their things onto their shoulders, everything they could take with them was packed. They all went outside into the fresh mountain air. The sun was just passing overhead, it's bright rays illuminating the forest trees.
They walked through the rich forest, birds chattering away. As the sun went down, they pitched two tents and lit a fire. Brenna took out some deer jerky to chew on for dinner and the three girls went to forage, finding berries and dandelion leaves. After eating their dinner, they retired into their tents, the next day would be a long walk.
