Author's Note: Although most of the characters are from the Mario world, in this story they have never met and do not know each other.
An eye. It was the eye of a man, lying on the ground in the middle of the jungle. He was wearing overalls and a red cap with an "M" symbol on it. The man stood up, fighting great pain in his leg. Although he was limping, he managed to walk.
After a decent amount of walking, he exited the jungle and found himself on a chaotic beach. Strangers were running to and fro in every direction, screaming, crying, and yelling in pain. Intensifying the situation even more was the wreckage of an airplane. Strewn across the beach were various engines, scraps of metal, and other pieces of the plane that crashed down onto the island. But only half of the plane was in sight.
Mario immediately took action. Struggling, he limped off towards the wreckage, intent on freeing trapped passengers. One man was being held down by a large chunk of metal. He wore a yellow cap with a "W" symbol. Attempting to help the man was a lady in a pink dress with blonde hair. She was not strong enough to offer any assistance. Ignoring his pain, Mario mustered all of his strength and freed the "W" man just as a remnant came crashing down where he had been.
Mario labored on, helping the survivors. He learnt the names of several survivors. The man and woman he had first helped were Wario and Peach, while others he met were called Raphael, Porto, and Luigi. Mario figured that they would be found in a day or two at most. They wouldn't be on this strange island for long.
The next day, little was done. The survivors found just enough food for each meal and didn't bother building shelter. They wouldn't be on this strange island for long.
Day two. Mario approached Peach in need of someone to talk to.
"Peach, is it?"
"Yes, that is right. And you are Mario, I believe."
"That I am," replied Mario.
"You've been limping. Did you hurt your leg in the crash?"
"Yeah, but it's not bad. It's almost fully healed now."
"Ok, I just wanted to make sure. We don't want anything to happen to our valiant leader."
With that, she walked away. Mario thought he and Peach would be great friends. Too bad they wouldn't be on this strange island for long.
The third full day on the island, and no sign of a boat. Questions began to arise on the beach. Where was the boat? How much longer? Why did we crash? How will we survive? Mario told everyone not to worry, they wouldn't be on this strange island for long.
On the fourth day, a dog ran up to the survivors. Apparently it belonged to Luigi, as he knew its barking meant "follow". Mario, once again taking charge, decided that he, Luigi, Wario, and Raphael would follow the dog. Peach and Porto, however, insisted on going as well. The six left camp where shelters were finally being built, and headed off into the jungle.
