You've forgotten yourself... A female voice reverberated around Vergil.

Vergil remained silent as he listened and kept his eye shut. He was drained and weak from the torture his body had been through. Although this voice was different, it wasn't raspy or harsh as the other voices that passed him, it was soothing and human.

I can help you if you want. I know that you want to get out of here...you've been here for so long... the female voice continued.

"H-How..." Vergil asked. He surprised himself that he was able to speak, he couldn't even remember the last time he spoke.

The details aren't important...but a temporary contract should be enough... the female replied.

"Temporary Contract..." Vergil thought to himself. He didn't know who was speaking to him, he didn't know if it was demon disguising their voice to deal the killing blow to him. But yet he found himself trusting this being and wanting to leave the place that he willingly fell into.

Think of it as your way out of the inferno, The woman added.

"A way...out...," Vergil repeated slowly feeling more of his strength slip away.

Let's get you out of here Vergil...

The female voice echoed in his head as he felt himself slipping into darkness. The cold bitter, biting darkness that once surrounded Vergil began to melt away as warmth began to spread through him, a warmth that he had almost forgotten. He couldn't remember where he was or what had happened to him. He had no sense of time or knew of his surroundings, just pitch black darkness.

Emptiness.

"Vergil...," the same female voice spoke to him again.

Slowly Vergil's eyes quivered open, squinting heavily Vergil's eyes quickly adjusted to the dark grey ceiling above him.

"W-Where-" Vergil's voice cracked as began. He attempted to move only to cause pain to shoot through his entire body.

"Don't move yet," The female voice quickly said.

Vergil, ignoring her warning craned his head to see a woman crouching next to him.

"W-What are you doing to me?!" Vergil hissed.

His veins pulsed red, white and finally blue as his body tensed and arched painfully. The woman watch intensely and stayed next to him as his body went through the painful adjustment.

"You're readjusting to the human world. You've been surrounded by the creatures of Hell and the Inferno for too long. It'll be over soon," she replied as she continued to watch Vergil writhe in pain. There was nothing to she could do to ease the pain, it just had to happen.

Searing burning pain shot through his body as he thrashed from side to side. Sinking into his skin, through his veins and blood his body boiled as white spots filled his vision. The woman watched as his canines elongate and sharpen, blood had started dripping from his clenched hands, the devil inside of him was fighting against the pain his body was going through.

Suddenly it all stopped, Vergil collapsed back to the ground and remained motionless, finally moving she reached for him when suddenly Vergil heaved and began to cough heavily.

"I'll formally apologize to you later Vergil, but this was the quickest way to get you from the Inferno, the woman said.

"Besides that should have been nothing for your Son of Sparda," she added.

Vergil's eyes opened again and focused on the woman next to him, she could see his pupils change from the demonic slit to a normal human pupil.

"Who are you?" Vergil asked as he tried moving, instead of pain shooting through his body a warm tingling sensation filled his body.

"You can call me Rei, and I got you out of the Inferno with a binding contract," Rei replied.

"You're human...contract?" Vergil asked.

"A contract that allowed you to leave when I did...I just needed our blood. As soon as you're healed I don't plan on keeping you," Rei replied firmly.

Vergil remained silent as the woman stood and moved around him. There was a faint scent of blood in the air, his and another. He has no recollection of what had happened to him, where he was and why this woman by the name of Rei had helped him.

"It was a lot easier for me to make a contract to get you out of the Inferno. Hell is nothing like the Inferno," Rei sighed.

"Hell...Inferno..." Vergil thought to himself. He knew of Hell, but the Inferno he knew nothing about.

"The gist of the contract is for you to stay with me, once you regain your strength you can go," Rei started as she stood in front of the door.

"Y-you're asking me to trust you," Vergil asked.

"As a part-time demon hunter...I keep my word. I am also bound to the contract as well. You don't have to trust me, but I am going to help you regardless," Rei stated.

Vergil kept his silence and continued to gaze at the woman. He knew nothing about her or her intentions with him, he knew that he was to hasty when it came to leaving the place was in? Vergil sighed frustrated he felt as if he was losing his mind.

"You do remember Sparda...right?" Rei questioned.

"Sparda?" Vergil questioned.

"I'm sure the pain went to your head...I'll ask again later," Rei replied and crossed her arms.

Vergil slowly moved him limbs before his attempted to stand. Rei looked over her shoulder at the man checking to see if he needed any help standing.

"Do you feel any better than before?" Rei asked.

Vergil looked at the woman fully, her stature was short, fiery curls stopped at her mid back, and piercing emerald green eyes looked at him.

"Who are you really?" Vergil asked she looked too frail to be a demon hunter.

"I told you who I am. What more do you want to know? My height, bust size, what?" Rei questioned.

Vergil grunted in response and took a step forward, his limbs were slow to respond causing him to wobble as he stood and almost lose his balance.

"What is that awful stench?" Vergil hissed as he clutched the side of his head.

"Cigarette smoke. Maybe the scents of demons and humans," Rei replied.

The scents of humans, demons and more mixed together causing his nose to burn and his devil blood to boil.

"Let's go. You can walk right?" Rei said as she went over to Vergil. She quickly inspected him for more wounds, her eyes went for the hole in his tattered black vest.

"What are you getting out of this?" Vergil asked as he looked down at her. Her green eyes locked onto his icy blue orbs, she stepped back and crossed her arms again.

"Goodwill," she replied as she turned towards the door.

"Goodwill? Is she mocking me?" Who does she think I am?" Vergil thought to himself as he took another awkward step towards her.

"Well it looks like you can walk," Rei said as she opened the door to the bar. She slowly walked out and looked behind her waiting for Vergil to follow. Vergil sluggishly followed her while holding on to his side.

"No one here yet Rodin?" Rei asked.

"No not yet," A deeper voice replied

"I see. Thanks for letting me use your back room," Rei said.

"You're lucky I didn't actually charge you," the man chuckled.

"and it seems like it worked out in the end," he added as he turned his attention to Vergil.

"ah...Welcome Son of Sparda..."Rodin trailed off. Vergil remained silent and continued towards Rei. Rodin turned his attention back to Rei standing by the portal .

"Thanks again Rodin, I'll be sure to pick up a few golden coins for you," Rei said before herself and Vergil disappeared.

"I hope you know what you're doing kid," Rodin commented as he began shining his glassware.

I'm glad your personality is intact," Rei commented as she opened the door to her apartment.

"Where was I?" Vergil asked brushing off her comment.

"I found traces of you in Hell...but you somehow got thrown into the Inferno," Rei replied as she ushered Vergil in.

"Why did you come for me?"

"I'm surprised you're talking this much. Someone has been looking for your for a very long time," Rei started.

"I thought I'd help out that person...besides someone like you shouldn't be in a place like the Inferno, especially in your condition,"

"My condition?" Vergi asked as his breathing became labored.

"I can only assume that Mundus did a number on you and threw you into the Inferno," Rei replied as she slowed down.

"Me defeated?" Vergil thought to himself as he leaned heavily on one of the ways in the walkway.

"W-where...are...we?" Vergil asked as he looked around before slumping to the ground.

"My apartment...you wounds opened again," Rei said as she began searching for the sources of blood. Vergil looked at his hand that was now covered in blood.

"Adonis get over here now!" Rei shouted as she attempted to help him stand. Vergil weakly tried pushing Rei away.

"No-" Vergil started as his vision began to blur.

"Adonis-" Rei started when suddenly Vergil was lifted from the floor and had his arm threw over someone's shoulder. Moments later Vergil was dropped on to an ebony sofa.

"Adonis don't be a jerk," Rei said as she went over to Vergil. She quickly removed his tattered vest to inspect the wounds on his sides and chest. Various slashes, puncture wounds had reopened causing his blood to soak his hand and clothes.

"He's gonna need new clothes..." Rei trailed off as she touched the red pinkish skin around his wounds. As she moved her hands the wounds began to heal, she avoided the large puncture wound near his heart. When she first seen Vergil there was a sword impaled in his chest near to his heart, there was no other way she had to remove it before she took him from the Inferno. She wondered if she had caused more damage than help.

"What did you do to get him?" Adonis asked bitterly.

"Oh...just a trip through Hell and took a gander in the Inferno that's all," Rei replied nonchalantly.

"I told you not to go there by yourself," Adonis chided her as he walked away.

"He has to have some type of internal damage..." Rei thought to herself

"A demon," Vergil panted.

"Yes. You are correct," Rei replied.

"I know that you're in a lot of pain...does your legs hurt?"

"N-No," Vergil replied.

"Good...," Rei trailed off as she looked at his wounds healing slower than usual.

"Why...why are you helping me?" Vergil hissed as the wound on his chest throbbed.

"Because I'm a nice person," Rei replied.

"You are not a nice person," Adonis replied as he walked back into the room with a first aid kit.

"Don't be a sourpuss Adonis," Rei quipped.

Adonis scoffed and handed her the first aid kit. Rei glanced over her shoulder at the giant-like man with golden blonde hair and piercing golden eyes.

"I already answered that question. Someone was looking for you, your brother to be exact. He would kill me if I knew that you were still alive," Rei replied, Adonis scoffed.

"My brother..." Vergil trailed off.

"You do remember your twin right?" Rei asked as she looked at the man. Vergil remained silent as his brows furrowed.

"He doesn't remember," Adonis answered for him. Rei glanced at Adonis before turning her attention back to Vergil.

"I see...I...I was going to let you go as soon as you healed but..." Rei trailed off.

Adonis shifted his stance behind the woman and frowned, he knew what was coming, he knew what she would say and didn't like any of it.

Another hiss came from Vergil as she sprayed antiseptic spray on his smaller wounds, Rei remained silent as she looked at his smaller wounds closing.

"What?" Vergil hissed.

"You lost some of your memories...it's too dangerous for your to by yourself," Rei replied.

"What do you mean?" Vergil asked.

"You don't remember your brother, your eternal brotherly rival, your father the Great Devil who was not only one of the strongest Devils in Hell but also protected the Human world from Mundus...those are important to who you are," Rei sighed. Adonis rolled his eyes as he watched Rei wrap Vergil's wounds.

"There...you wounds should be healed by tomorrow. I'm not sure why your wounds aren't healing as quickly as they should be...but we'll see. Try to regain some of your strength back," Rei said as she stood.

"Adonis get some pillows and a blanket. I'll grab some pain meds to help you sleep," Yoyo said as she walked out of the room, Adonis followed.

Vergil laid in silence, had he forgotten about his brother? His father? Vergil grimaced as his brow furrowed, he couldn't think the throbbing pain in his head was overwhelming.

"Vergil...Here," Rei said as she held out two white caplets.

"Can you take it yourself?"

Vergil's icy blue eyes focused on Rei and then to the caplets.

"No,"

Rei's eye softened as she started to move Vergil into a sitting position as she put the caplets to his mouth and then followed with water. Adonis watched as Rei helped the young Sparda, and grimaced.

"I know it'll be hard...but try to sleep. Just know that you are safe," Rei said as she stepped back to allow Adonis to make Vergil comfortable.

"Safe..." Vergil commented.

"Yes...Well Good Night,"

Rei and Adonis exited from the front room leaving Vergil to himself once again. The room was quiet and illuminated by the moonlight, a completely different than where he was before.

"How much...have I forgotten..." Vergil asked himself quietly.

"Rei you are being irrational. You cannot keep him here," Adonis protested as he followed her down the hall way.

"We can't let him wander around aimlessly Adonis," Rei replied as she walked into the kitchen.

"Why not?"

"Well...for starters...he bounded by a contract. A blood contract,"

"You bounded the Son of Sparda to a blood contract?!" Adonis hissed.

"Uh yeah. How else was I supposed to get him out of the Inferno with no issues?" Rei said nonchalantly as she opened a container of ice cream.

"Rei...what have you done?" Adonis stared at her.

"C'mon you're making this a lot bigger than what is is. He'll get his memory back in no time," Rei smirked

"You're a terrible witch...I can't believe you're an umbrian-" Adonis started.

"Stop. You are in no position to lecture me, especially about my heritage," Rei said firmly. Adonis blankly looked at Rei.

"Everything will be figured out. Stop doubting me...besides when I have I been wrong?" Rei smirked as she walked out of the kitchen.
