Just a little one shot I decided to write about what I perceived was Severus' reaction to Lily's death, and his somewhat acceptance James.

Dispirited Away
The rain pelted against his window, causing roars to permeate the empty room. He sat in his lone chair, cradling a glass of whiskey. His eyes were sunken and his frame gaunt. His hair was unkempt and his wardrobe disheveled.
Tossing his now empty glass against the wall, it shattered to a thousand little pieces, reminiscent of his life. He put it off as long as possible, but now was the time. He rose from his chair, and grabbed his thickest cloak and apparated away.
The cemetery was quiet and deserted. It had an eerie feeling to it, but for him, it was mildly comforting. He walked along the graves, reading a tombstone here and there until he reached hers. He stared at it, unmoving, unfeeling. A strike of lightening brought him back. He caused this. She was dead because of him. He betrayed her.
Instantly, the tears started pouring. The rain was no longer alone in wetting his face. He cried for hours, until his tears could not escape anymore. He turned left, and glanced at his grave. A sudden surge of hate shocked his body. He was glad he died. He was glad that he was rid of that scum. But he turned and looked at her grave and instantly regretted it. Apparently, he was the better man. She chose him.
He supposed that it was better that it was this way. They were too different. She was pretty, popular, and smart. And he was just smart, at times too smart for his own good. He was perfect for her, attractive, charismatic, of some sort of intelligence, though of which was unbeknownst to him. They were a perfect match. He could not mess with perfection.
He enlarged the roses he had in his pocket and gently placed it down on her grave. And at a last moment, took one rose from her grave and placed it next door, on his grave. He turned and instead of apparating away, he decided to take a walk.
So, yeah, there it is... tell me what you think.
I watched spirited away before I wrote this and it has no relation whatsoever to the movie. It was just a little play on words.
