You always call me, "My Great Sage."
"Can you not see that I am busy?" I swatted away the hand that was playfully tugging at my long hair. I have been contemplating whether or not I should just slice it off. And the man sitting behind me playing with it as though he were a kitten swatting at a piece of string did not help.
"What could you possibly be doing that could ever be more important than being with me, my Great Sage?" He asked. I did not even need to look back to know that he was smiling in his smug way. His voice gave it away- his arrogant way of speaking was always the same.
"I am busy," I declared once more as I began to leaf through the pages of the old book I was reading. "You know as well as I do how important the acquisition of knowledge is to me."
"Oh, I do know how important it is to you," he smiled. "But I also know I am much more flattering than those books." He reached over and plucked the book out of my hands, his golden hair touching my cheeks as he did so.
"For God's sake," I sighed, turning around. "Give it back to me."
His eyes twinkled mischievously, his mouth curling up into a wider grin- "Come and get it."
Even as I allow myself to be pulled into an embrace, into the strong arms that I have come to know so well, I could not help but take a little sigh.
You always tell me you love me.
But I know what you are hiding from me…
I know that you are my brother…
